About this listen
Life is full of choices- of chances- of moments. Chances we regret not taking. Choices we wish we could change. And then there are the moments that define us.
Kam was my choice.... The one who stole my heart instantly.
Kane was my chance.... The one who set me ablaze with just one look.
They were my moment.... Two brothers that both owned a part of me. Two brothers that I loved in different ways for different reasons. One brother shattered my heart. The other put it back together. Both changed me forever.

Story
Alec Murray. He was the one. From the first moment I saw him, I knew. I had never been more certain of anything in my 16 years on this Earth. But Alec didn’t notice me. At least not in the way that I wanted him to. He noticed my best friend instead. I stood by and watched their relationship blossom. An outsider looking in, wishing things were different. Torn between my loyalty to my best friend and the boy who had unknowingly stolen my heart.

They say everything happens for a reason - that there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. For the longest time, I didn’t think that was true. I had stumbled around in the dark for so many years that I didn’t think I would ever find my way out. But when I finally did, it came in the most unexpected way. Miles Hollins had been my brother’s best friend for as long as I could remember. We didn’t like each other much growing up. Or rather, we couldn’t stand each other.

Arrogant. Egotistical. Playboy. Three words that perfectly describe Atlas Keaton. My twin brother’s best friend. The absolute bane of my existence. And my new college roommate. It wasn’t by choice of course. The last thing I wanted was to be forced to endure a full semester living under the same roof as him and my brother. But when a housing mix-up leaves me 3,000 miles away from home with nowhere else to turn, I don’t really have another option. It’s only four months, how hard could it be, right? Wrong...

It was destiny - the night I met Hudson Demasi. I remember how effortlessly he stole my heart - his dark eyes and quick smile forever etched into my mind. We spent one incredible night together under a haze of tequila - a perfect night. And when I woke the next day, he was gone. I never expected to see him again - especially not five years later standing on a stage in front of thousands of screaming fans as none other than hot, new country artist, Hudson James.

You never get over your first love. It’s something I’ve heard countless times. Like someone has to point out that your pain will never go away. That your shattered heart will never mend. Because that’s exactly what my heart did the day I watched Asher Evans board that train - it shattered, splintering into a million tiny fragments that I didn’t think I’d ever be able to piece back together. He was the boy I had loved since I understood what loving someone mean.

It only takes one night - one moment, one small snippet of time - to change everything. At 16-years-old, Sebastian Baxter taught me that. He taught me a lot of things. He never had to work for my heart. In some unexplainable way, I think it had always belonged to him anyway. Some might think our love story is over, but deep down I know it's only just beginning. Because it's not about where the night begins, it's about where it ends.

Story
For years, I’ve been planning my escape. Preparing for the day when I could leave home and never look back. But when the moment came, it didn’t happen like I had planned. I didn’t pack up my car and drive away, watching my old life disappear in the rearview mirror like I had always envisioned I would. Instead, I ran — quite literally — as fast and far as my feet would take me. I didn’t know where I was going, only that I had to get away. And that’s when he found me....

I remember the first time I saw Sutton Barnett in perfect detail–like a fragment of time suspended in front of my eyes. I remember his shirt–faded blue against tanned skin that had seen countless hours of the summer sun. Wet droplets peppered his shoulders from where his still wet hair had dripped onto the fabric. He rounded the bottom of the stairs, our eyes meeting for only a fraction of a second before he looked away, but it was long enough for me to know right then and there that nothing would ever be the same again.

I met Thad Mitchell for the first time when I was just a child. I didn’t remember much about him - except that he pushed me off a swing set when I was four years old and broke my arm. Not the best thing to remember about a person, but there it is. He moved away a couple years later and soon became a distant memory. That is until I walked into my parents' house after being gone for four years to find him sitting at the kitchen table with my family like he’d been there all along.

It’s funny how differently we view life when we’re young. Everything feels possible- limitless. If only things could stay that way forever. Then maybe life wouldn’t be so complicated. Maybe Jace would still be the same ten-year-old boy I fell in love with. Maybe I’d still be that same girl too. The girl who believed that there wasn’t anything we couldn’t overcome. But I’m not that girl anymore. Time has beaten me down, broken me, taken everything from me. And it’s taken even more from Jace. I naively believed that I could save him...From his dad. From his anger.

It all started with an unexpected phone call. Two years after my fiancé passed away in an accident, his father died suddenly, leaving Brad’s adult special-needs brother with no one to care for him. The next thing I knew, I was on a cross-country drive to New Hampshire where I’d be moving in to look after Scottie until I could get him into a group home. The last thing I ever expected? I wouldn’t be taking care of him alone.

Story
I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived—and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again. Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us.

4 stars because narrator as Elara is annoying
I really enjoyed the story, and found it beautiful, heartbreaking yet hopeful. But, the narration of the main character made her sound like a young child and ruined parts of it for me. I wish she would have just used her normal voice and not used the higher pitched little girl voice.

Bittersweet Love Story!!
Ahh, the age old mystery of how one can be hurt by love or healed by the same...The Road To You by Melissa Toppen is one of those bittersweet love stories that takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride of happiness right on through to painstaking heartache and every other possible feeling in between. It also conveys one of life’s lessons on just how often “timing is everything.”
This was my first read/listen by this author and I have to say I look forward to listening to other audiobooks by her. I liked that this (audio)book was a simple read/listen and overall it was pretty easy to follow. I’d classify this as a great beach read/listen or first listen. I do have to say that at times throughout the book I felt like it could’ve been a bit more in depth or detailed. I think that would’ve made the story feel more real to me. For example, while Elara and Kane were working on themselves. It didn’t feel as though the amount of time passed that had. I wanted to feel that passing time and the painful longing and hope of one day reuniting. I think more detailing here could’ve allowed readers/listeners to experience that.
Ok, we all know that a narrator plays a huge part in audiobooks and can majorly aid in making or breaking one. That said, overall I think Nicole Marie Blessing was just ok. I don’t like bashing narrators at all and I don’t plan on doing it here but I will make a suggestion. I would insist on using your own voice (which is very nice) while portraying an adult female character instead of that high pitched voice that sounds as though the character in book in very young. I think you can and will be very successful in making this simple change.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this (audio)book. It was well written and moved at a really nice pace.

Not bad
The voice is kind of mousey, which is not for my liking. The story is okay, a little long winded in parts. Not the best book by Melissa. I will still read more of her books.

Heartfelt and Emotional Romance
The Road to You was such a heartfelt emotional story. This one really hit me in the heart. Elara and Kane's story is filled with grief and I'm so happy they were able to find love through all that. I liked the narrator, the only drawback I had was that I wish there was a male narrator, because I hate when I have remind myself that I'm listening to the male's pov. Other than that really adored this one.

Love it
The Road to You by Melissa Toppen is a full-length, standalone romance novel. The audiobook is narrated by Nicle Marie Blessing.
Meet Elara. Karma nearly destroyed her, it shattered her heart and broke her in pieces. It´s the day she has to say goodbye to the half of her heart. And then there's the brother who puts her back together. Two brothers nearly identical and yet so different.
Elara works as receptionist at her aunts salon and Kane is a successful consultant in risk management. Both are lost over the loss of a loved one.
The Road to You is a emotional read, I started reading and was captivated. This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Melissa Toppen has accomplished just that. I love the story, the characters and the words.
I give 4,5 emotional stars.

Heartbreaking and Beautiful!
Elara never imagined that by spending summers with her aunt that she would meet Kam, her best friend and the man that would shape her life. Since she was 15 they were as close as two people could be until it was just her and the hole that he left in her life almost destroyed her.
Kane is Kam’s older brother and although he wasn’t in her life he was never far away and when he saw what the devastation that she felt was doing he was there to pick up the pieces both for Kam and for himself. Their journey to begin living again is filled with grief, pain and emotions that will first gut you and then make you believe in the power of love.
I enjoyed the narration however at time Elara's voice was a little high for me. I voluntarily reviewed a Complimentary Copy from the narrator.

Sweet, emotional read. Wonderful chemistry.
I listened to the story and enjoyed the narration for the most part. Overall, it was good, but I didn’t like the dialogue voice she used for Elara; too much like a little girl voice.
Very sweet romance with great chemistry between the characters. At times overly dramatic, but there’s sadness, death and guilt being dealt with, so it’s to be expected. Elara and Kane are both working through the loss of someone, and are connecting in a way they couldn’t before. They have some obstacles in their way, but it’s mostly self made obstacles. I love that the characters are in their early to mid 20’s and have a bit of maturity to them. Kane is adorable! It’s great how he is really there for Elara. There are some really awesome moments between them and I felt the passion between them. I didn’t love how a couple things played out towards the ending, but overall, a wonderful book that kept me interested.
