As a senior acquisitions editor for Fog Harbor Books in San Francisco, Ingrid Erikson has rejected many a manuscript for lack of defined conflict and dramatic irony—two elements her current life possesses in spades. Luke Edgewood isn’t a romantic. Or, at least, he’s always felt certain things like rom-coms were invented as punishment for average guys. Besides, he’s always preferred to be a behind-the-scenes guy who lives a quiet life being a good friend, neighbor, and brother. So when he travels to the island of Skymar to work a few months on restoring abandoned buildings, he never expects to find himself directly in the middle of a romantic, trope-filled story.

Story
It was just one date. My friend told me I needed more fun in my life, so I reluctantly said yes. Fun wasn’t exactly in my wheelhouse. After watching my own mother’s love life implode time and time again, it’s only natural that I have a few rules to protect myself. Actually, it’s just one rule: avoid relationships with men so I don’t get attached. This guy was just a warm body in a chair. I was here for the basketball game. I was absolutely NOT here for my date. Or the kiss cam. Or the kiss. Or the impromptu evening with the one man who seems bent on throwing my tidy world off of its axis.

Publisher's summary
A cross-country road trip. A secretive box of journals. An unforgettable summer romance.
As the youngest daughter of a country music legend, Raegan Farrow longs to establish an identity away from the spotlight and publish her small-town romances under a pen name. But after her dream is dashed when she won't exploit her mother’s fame to further her own career, she hears a rumor from a reliable source regarding a tell-all being written about the Farrow family. Making matters worse, the unknown author has gone to great lengths to remain anonymous until publication.
Raegan chooses to keep the tell-all a secret from her scandal-leery sisters as they embark on a two-week cross-country road trip at their mother’s request and makes it her mission to expose the identity of the author behind the unsanctioned biography. But all is complicated when she discovers their hired bus driver, Micah Davenport, has a hidden agenda of his own—one involving both of their mothers and an old box of journals. As they rely on each other to find the answers they seek, the surprising revelations they unearth will lead them down an unexpected road of love and reconciliation.

I wield optimism as my weapon of choice, don amazing shoes and vintage hats whenever possible, and speak in musical references. All of which perfectly qualifies me to succeed in my new role as a marketing intern at the historic Darling House theater on the island of Skymar. A Sweet Story that Grows on You
I love this story! I had a bit of trouble getting into it, but then it captured my heart. I always listen to books twice before leaving a review, once for the story and the second time for the beauty of the detail. I loved this one the first time though, but as I listened the second time the depth of the story hit home. Each character is growing and changing in unique ways that pull them into a shared place of healing. The story is more than just entertaining. It’s challenging in the best of ways.

Mystery, Slow Burn, and Country Music!
I really enjoyed the sweet romance. I thought the mystery was well written and It honestly kept me guessing even up until the last chapter. The book was fun and filled with tons of great Country Music and Tennessee references that kept me entertained and giggling. Fun book, made me laugh and made me cry!

Faith, love and family
This is the 2nd book in the series but it could be read as a standalone as there was no overlap to the previous storyline barring the mention of Chip and Ali. From Ali was introduced, I thought she would end up with Chip and thats what the next series would probably focus on but this was so much better.
The themes of friendship and sisterhood was a linking theme and I really liked that there was more incorporation of God and faith in this series. I liked the complexities of the family issues and how the author emphasized the importance of communication, prayer and trusting God. There was a bit of a dip in the storyline but the full read was all worth it in the end. This story is tied with Before I called you mine as my faves from the author.
