About this listen

Kasia Amon is a master at hiding. Who - and what - she is makes her a mark for the entire supernatural world. Especially dragon-shifters. To them, she's treasure to be taken and claimed. A golden ticket to their highest throne. But she can't stop bursting into flames, and there's a sexy dragon-shifter in town hunting for her....

As a rogue dragon, Brand Astarot has spent his life in the dark, shunned by his own kind, concealing his true identity. Only his dangerous reputation ensures his survival. Delivering a phoenix to the feared Blood King will bring him one step closer to the revenge he's waited centuries to take. No way is he letting the feisty beauty get away.

But when Kasia sparks a white-hot need in him that's impossible to ignore, Brand begins to form a new plan: Claim her for himself...and take back his birthright.

Love this and want more

This is my first dragon shifter book and I really enjoyed it. The story line of the sisters has me hooked. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Randomly read it and glad I did!

The only con is the male narrator wasn’t my favorite. He is an excellent narrator, I just thought his voice didn’t really match the description of him (supposedly light British accent which the female narrator nailed perfectly btw)
Other than that I really liked the story line and the dynamic between characters. I am an avid reader of paranormal romance so is it top ten material? No, but very entertaining and fun to listen to!

Good story not a fan of the narrators

I enjoyed the story, but not really the narrators. The male sounded older, making the male characters feel like they were in their 60's or older and it put me off the romance vibe. The female narrator didn't read the actions or scenes with the right vibe.

Interesting Shifter Culture

While I like the book overall, and found both story and narration great, I was a bit irritated with the whole romantic cliche portion where Kasia suddenly realizes that Brand lies after mating her. She was warned of this through the entire book, yet suddenly, as soon as she sees his back story, she jumps to the conclusion he lied to further his revenge by mating her. Admittedly I believe Brand would have had it in him at the beginning of the book, but by that point he truly has fallen for her and would never hurt her. Kasia’s whole “I can’t trust you because you lie” temper tantrum afterwards when she knew what kind of person he was from the get go is a little childish to me, but other than that, I enjoyed the book, particularly where she realized just how much Brand truly cared for her.

Perfect first book in a new shifter series

I loved Brand and Kasia’s fated mates, dragon and phoenix shifter romantic suspense tale. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. The story will give you all the feels - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering. I was not a fan of shifter novels until I read Abigail Owen's dragons. Now I am a fan for life. Brand, a dragon shifter, is super alpha and determined but so loving at the same time. His struggle to choose between love and his centuries old quest for revenge gives you all the feels. There are no damsels in distress in this book however, Kasia, a phoenix shifter, is a force to be reckoned with just as much as Brand is. Kasia has a similar struggle - fall for Brand, follow her mother's guidance or choose the Blue King. Sexy story, exciting chases, lots of intrigue, and sweet love makes this a story worth reading multiple times. The world building is phenomenal in this book and it parallels the author's Fire's Edge series but any of the books can be read separately. Each book has a wonderful HEA and Brand and Kasia's is swoon worthy.

Sarah Puckett and Alexandre Steele did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I love the added dimension of listening to the characters.

wish it was duel narrator's

The story is interesting and it kept me listening, what I didn't like is the male narrator, he sounds so flat not like a big dragon who should have a deep voice plus when he does the other characters they all sound the same including the female's, it's a huge turn off hearing a man's voice talking as the female. Because of this I won't be listening to the other books in this series sadly .

Great start

Okay I usually can finish a listen within 1 day, this took a couple days due to the length, all in all I love this first book. Did drag a bit at the beginning but I stayed with it and very glad I did. Okay the narration wasn’t the very best but good.
Worth it
