Publisher's summary

Ten new and original tales of the master detective, told by his loyal friend and assistant, Dr. Watson. The world may not yet be ready for the giant rat of Sumatra but it will assuredly be eager for these stories of murder, kidnap and theft. Here are tales of a walled-up corpse, a gun-toting American, a sealed-room with a difference, and mysterious disappearances, all in the traditional Conan Doyle style. The game is decidedly afoot, as governments totter, dark secrets are exposed, and Scotland Yard's finest stumble and blunder. There are more mysteries solved here, though, than just those brought before Sherlock Holmes - learn at last the truth of his university education, of his first paid case and even his philosophy of toast!

Great stories

Very enjoyable indeed. Going to see if I can find more Holmes stories from MX Publishing.

Very Holmesian

A fine collection of Sherlock Holmes tales. They felt authentic, and I truly enjoyed them.

First, the author did a good job of capturing the mood, the vocabulary, and the spirit of The Literary Agent. I rarely, if ever, found myself saying, “What the Holmes?”

But then that was paired with excellent narration. The narrator did a great job of giving each character a distinct voice and mannerism. It was easy for me to identify the speaking character, just by how he read them.

He also didn’t misread or mispronounce more than one or two words. So I was able to completely relax and let the story flow through my ears right in to my brain. It was delightful!

So definitely give this a listen.

A great collection

I enjoyed these ten stories, all them faithful to the originals, bringing a bit more to the always growing world of Holmes and Watson. My only complaint is that I would have liked if the stories were longer, a little more fleshed out. But, other than that, excellent collection of short stories.

Time Winters' narration is truly superb.

Stories are generally good but way too short

I hate to wtite a negative review of what is, overall, a pretty good collection of Sherlock Holmes pastiches. However, this book leaves so much on the table that it is, frankly, disappointing. Many of the stories are entertaining, but almost every one is way too short. I would rather the author had dropped 1/3 of the stories and spent more time fleshing out the remainder. The saving grace of this book is the excellent narration of Time Winters.
