Story
At sixteen, Sadie Young had a brush with death, and as a result she became more sensitive to the supernatural. Rather than embrace this gift, she spent years running from it, and from the darkness that once preyed upon her. Now twenty-five and working as a librarian, Sadie is called upon by a desperate family friend to look into a strange series of events. A teenaged girl has entered a reputedly haunted house in town and has gone mad. Committed, the girl attempts suicide and claims to be terrorized at all hours by a horrific specter known as "Mother Maggot."

Story
Josephine began to suspect something was wrong with the crumbling gothic monstrosity next door when its family fled in the middle of the night, the children screaming, the mother crying. They never came back. No family stays at Marwick House for long. No life lingers beyond its blackened windows. No voices drift from its ancient halls. Once, Josephine swore she saw a woman's silhouette pacing through the upstairs room… but that's impossible. No one had been there in a long, long time.

Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Story
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Sorority Life is Not All Fun & Games!
The Scream Sisters by J. R. Erickson is truly amazing and frightening all wrapped up in one fantastic place. The Scream Sisters is another excellent standalone in the author's Troubled Spirits collection. Highly anticipated, this novel was everything I have come to expect from this author and so much more. From beginning to end, it captivated my attention and never let go. It helps bring to light the mysterious world of sororities, and the pressure PNM's (Potential New Members) face during rush week. It is an amazing plot, filled with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. The ending will really throw you for a loop!
Teagan shows great strength and tenacity as she desperately searches for her missing best friend/roommate who has disappeared without a trace during rush week. Blair is another PNM that becomes involved through her supernatural abilities. The characters are so well written and developed that you can feel their fear and frustration.
The audiobook is very well done and easy to listen to despite it being a troubling tale. The narration is well executed and the pace is just right. It's easy to get swept up in the story so that you feel as if you are part of the story. If you enjoy audiobooks, this is one definitely worth grabbing!
Overall, Scream Sisters is a phenomenal standalone novel set amongst the fantastic Troubled Spirits Series. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed at all!

Great book and a great narrator!
I absolutely loved this book! I'm a huge true crime fan and I was on the edge of my seat listening the entire time. The narrator for this book was absolutely amazing as well. Her voices for the other characters was not cringey and it made it easy to follow despite the book jumping from two different character's perspectives. Wonderful experience overall!
