About this listen
Small towns can have big secrets, and this secret may have changed the world forever....
When the people of Waxahachie, Texas wake to find themselves cut off from the rest of the world and surrounded by an unfamiliar and dangerous wilderness, they must work together to survive and unravel the cause of the mysterious "seam".
Ellis County, Texas, is turned on its head when everyone within an eighty-seven-mile radius wakes up in a world they don't recognize—a world populated by animals long since extinct. It's up to a tired sheriff and a former Waxahachie resident to set aside their differences, solve the mystery, and keep the people of Ellis County and Waxahachie safe.
Texas Accelerated is a fun, sci-fi/post-apocalyptic adventure set in the heart of Texas. This series seeks only to entertain and has plenty of action, laughs, and Texans fighting sabertooth tigers. What more do you want?

Story
Everyone could see it coming. But one man could do something about it. Oh, he couldn't avert the nuclear holocaust, but a scientist in Austria, ruthlessly using billions of research dollars for his own purposes, set himself up and out: he created a time machine, and filled a warehouse with low-tech survival gear. Too bad he didn't get to use it himself. Instead, a team of American grad students, led by their professor, is sent back to the late Roman Empire. Even though they are experts in this time and place, they are about to realize that books and actual experience are very different things.

The year is 2072. At the lunar farside radio observatory, an old school radio broadcast is detected, similar to those broadcast on Earth in the 1940s and early 1950s, but in an unknown language, coming from an impossible source, and originating at an equally impossible location—Proxima Centauri. While the nations of Earth debate making First Contact, they learn that the Proximans are facing an extinction-level disaster, forcing a decision: Will Earth send a ship on a multiyear trip to provide aid?

Story
Helliconia follows an eccentric orbit around a double-star system with a twenty-six-hundred-year cycle of very long seasons. As spring slowly breaks the brutally long winter, humans emerge from hiding and a long sequence of civilization and growth begins to repeat again, unbeknownst to the participants but watched by an orbiting satellite station, Avernus, created by Earth some centuries ago. Humans free themselves from slavery to the aboriginal Phagors, and religion and science flower and expand.

They press her to embrace an ingenious reinterpretation of her discovery and ban her from talking about it. Plausible fiction
I liked the familiar places and likely characters from a small town. The plausibility of a super conductor project is real as there was stiff competition for the government to build one for scientific research 30 years ago. The book is easy reading and draws you into the plot to discover what caused the change in Waxahache. I highly recommend it!

Fresh perspective in an often-overused scenario
Stories of accidental time travel or misplaced characters are everywhere these days, from the modern Marvel universe to classics like Gulliver's Travels. With The Seam, however, listeners are treated to a fresh environment with believable characters and a rough situation to overcome. With appropriate time spent developing personalities and motivations, we follow citizens and visitors of a Texas town that have found themselves suddenly and inexplicably surrounded by fierce wilderness with no communication and no power. Through sheer determination and sharing of knowledge, answers are slowly revealed about the cause of their plight, and who (or what) was responsible. However, before they can battle the encroaching creatures on the outside, there are devious plots to uncover and halt from the inside. Clear and diverse narration from Zach Hebert brings this exciting story with tense action to life. I'm looking forward to book 2. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 1.85x.]

Great story and flows well
This is an easy read and there are some great twists and turns you don't see coming. The main characters Abilene and Ben are well written and I am excited for their story to develop. Some of the science went over my head but all in all a great read!!!

Engaging story and characters!
The story was very engaging, with some very nice setup. None of the characters seemed similar and their development was interesting and believable. I have to say that the story kept me listening and on the edge of my seat for the entire book. The narrator was not my favorite, and didn't have the energy that I expected with the action. Though they improved over the story, the writing was good enough that at some point I stopped analyzing the narration. I will say that the narrator did some characters really well, Damion for example. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone that wants an exciting story with excellent science portions that are not overwhelming. I loved it and am looking forward to the next book!

Fully engaged
I was genuinely pleasantly surprised by this book. The first two or three chapters had me doubting the author's ability to create realistic and deep characters but the story rapidly progressed and characters bloomed. Is it a perfectly realistic, smart sci-fi with no holes in it? No, but better than most screenwriting I see today and what I would describe as a page turner. Worth a credit for sure.

One of my favorite tropes
This book has one of my favorite tropes. You can feel the frustration of the situation in the different characters. Really looking forward to the next book in the series.

A Thrilling Adventure That Hits Close to Home
What an adventurous read! A captivating blend of sci-fi and dystopian elements with a great plot and engaging characters. Since moving to Waxahachie and learning about the Superconducting Super Collider project, the story truly came to life for me. I can’t wait to dive deeper into this series!
