Following on from the bestselling The Seven Sisters and The Storm Sister, The Shadow Sister is the third book in Lucinda Riley's spellbinding series of love and loss, inspired by the mythology of the Seven Sisters constellation.

Read by Fiona Button (
This Is Not a Pity Memoir, Your Word Or Mine)

Star D'Aplièse, in her late twenties, is at a crossroads in her life after the sudden death of her beloved father – the elusive billionaire, named Pa Salt by his six daughters, all adopted by him from the four corners of the world. He has left each of them a clue to their true heritage, but Star – the most enigmatic of the sisters – is hesitant to step out of the safety of the close relationship she shares with her sister CeCe. In desperation, she decides to follow the first clue she has been left, which leads her to an antiquarian bookshop in London, and the start of a whole new world . . .

A hundred years earlier, headstrong and independent Flora MacNichol vows she will never marry. She is happy and secure in her home in the Lake District, living close to her idol, Beatrix Potter. But, when machinations outside of her control lead her to the London home of one of Edwardian society's most notorious players, Flora is pulled between passionate love and duty to her family. But she finds herself a pawn in a game – the rules of which are only known to others – until a meeting with a mysterious gentleman unveils the answers that Flora has been searching for her whole life . . .

As Star learns more of Flora's incredible journey, she too goes on a voyage of discovery, finally stepping out of the shadow of her sister and opening herself up to the possibility of love.

The epic, multi-million selling series continues with The Pearl Sister.

I have been binge reading this series now. This being the third book in the series, though longer than the other two, took less time to read. It was a slower start but quickly drew me in and I couldn’t put it down. I’m not sure why, but I felt the most connected to this book in the series so far. I enjoyed learning about the royalty society and how smart to bring in in Beatrice Potter! Rory captured my heart as did Star’s journey to finding herself. I have 5 sisters myself so I can relate to this series so much and I truly wish I could take a sisters trip to all the wonderful venues! Here’s to the next one. Pearl sister here I come!!!

Fantastic Journey

Great story with twists and turns. Appears to be historically and period accurate. Would recommend

While I’m really hooked to these series, I do find this one a bit more disconnected than the first two. Star has take. Far too long to find her voice and I still don’t really know what draws her and mouse to one another, except for their names, which isn’t nearly enough. There has to be more to Star’s life than being the other person to either CeCe, or Mouse and Rory. I didn’t really get a sense of who Star is, and that’s a shame.

Not as connected as the first 2.

I was glad this story included info about Beatrice Potter it was so interesting. I did not find Star character to be very likable but maybe because she is written as so shy we really don't get to know her. The side character Orlando was a nice addition and brought some amusement to the story. I also found Star's story ended to abruptly. On to the next one, great series.

I love the character Flora but unfortunately not Star. This is also the first book in the series where the mystery of the stranger in the airport is introduced. I stayed up listening, the chapters on Flora were interesting and exciting. But Star’s chapters dragged on. I am not very happy with how indecisive Starr is or how a pushover she is (first succumbing all the time to CeeCee’s whims and wills and later to the demands of the Forbes/Vaughan family. They cannot even clean up after themselves, depending on Starr to cook and clean for them like she is their servant.
I’m looking forward to the fourth book and all the traveling that CeeCee will be doing.

Interesting characters

I really liked this 3rd book after I got past the First Quarter of it. It did take time to get the story line established. Once it was established, it went very fast.

Love the generational characters and the embedding of the music into the story!
I do love this series but feel like I need a family tree to look at sometimes especially when I listen through audible. Maybe a preface that you may want to download a family tree that comes in sections according the Chapters as all of the names and or who belongs to which family sometimes becomes confusing but hey I’m addicted as I listened to book 3 in about 36 hours while packing up my house!
