About this listen

Can the Crystal Shard be destroyed at last? Drizzt is determined to destroy the evil Crystal Shard, and seeks out the help of the scholar-priest Cadderly. But instead, his worst fears are realized, and Crenshinibon falls into the hands of the dark elf mercenary Jarlaxle and his unlikely ally Artemis Entreri.

The Silent Blade is the book that brought Drizzt back to the Realms, and was a New York Times best seller on its initial release - and has been in print every day since. Like the rest of the Legend of Drizzt(R) reissues, The Silent Blade features beautiful new cover art by award-winning illustrator Todd Lockwood.

Another Awesome Adventure

A triple 'A' title all the way! I started this journey from the very first Drizzt book and with each one I listen to everything just keeps getting better and I keep getting more enthralled and sucked into this incredibly wondrous world. Practically every character that gets written in becomes someone you want to keep track of and remember, there's not that many books I've read or listened to that I can say that about.

If your wanting a lasting read and you can't wait to get your next fix because it's just that good these books are just the ticket!

Back on track

I was a bit worried from the last book that this series may have hit a peak a few books back. The silent blade showed there is still much left to do.

Fantastic Novel

I was raised on this series and R.A. Salvatore inspired me to write fiction. His plots and character development are astounding and the way he weaves his words create rich and vibrant settings and characters.

This series just keeps getting better

This series just keeps getting better.

For a few books now the Legend of Drizzt series has been moving away from just being a chronicle of the life and battles of Drizzt, and with this book the expansion really blossoms. There are now at least three interacting plot lines to keep up with. This provides a lot of variety, but not so much that it’s impossible to keep them straight.

To begin with, Drizzt and his friends, Bruenor the Dwarf, Cattie-Brie, Bruenor’s adopted human daughter, Regis the halfling, and Wulfgar, the giant barbarian who was formerly engaged to Cattie-Brie and who has recently been brought back from a hellish existence at the edge of the abyss as the prisoner of the Demon Ertu, set out to take the evil Crystal Shard, Crenshinibon, back to the priest Cadderly in the hope that he can destroy it.

For a fragment of a busted-up crystal that can’t walk on its own or talk, Crenshinibon sure can cause a lot of trouble. It works by corrupting the minds of others to make them do what it wants them to. It is extremely unhappy with Drizzt and the gang because they are too strong-minded for it. So, it calls whatever monsters or other evil beings are around to attack them at every turn.

Another great adventure

Once again Drizzt proves his prowess in combat with an old nemesis. We also get to see how Wulfgar struggles in his return to his family. The stories around Drizzt continue on.

Leave Out Wulfgar

As much as I like the Companions of the Hall, I really hate the way that R A Salvatore branched off on Wulfgar. I really don't care if he was corrupted in the abyss. I really don't care how he learns to cope with his PTSD. I really don't care about Wulfgar! I would rather that he had been killed off by the Handmaiden of Lolth and then that would have been the end of that, very heroic ending, we all mourned, goodbye Wulfgar. {snore}
The rest of the book was great, however. Can't get enough of the Drow, Jarlaxle, Artemis Email, etc. etc.
