About this listen

"I did something terrible, Grace. I hope you can forgive me."

Grace hasn't been the same since the death of her best friend, Charlie. She is haunted by Charlie's words the last time she saw her and, in a bid for answers, opens an old memory box of Charlie's. It soon becomes clear there was a lot she didn't know about her best friend.

When Grace starts a campaign to find Charlie's father, Anna, a girl claiming to be Charlie's sister, steps forward. For Grace, finding Anna is like finding a new family, and soon Anna has made herself very comfortable in Grace and her boyfriend Dan's home.

But something isn't right. Things disappear, Dan's acting strangely, and Grace is sure that someone is following her. Is it all in Grace's mind? Or as she gets closer to discovering the truth about both Charlie and Anna, is Grace in terrible danger?

There was nothing she could have done to save Charlie. Or was there?

Normally I don't do full detailed reviews at all and it's really hard to disappoint me. I just felt like the story took forever to start getting good. The last 2 1/2 hours were really good but the first 6 1/2 hours kind of dragged on, I get that there was important information that we all needed to hear but they put a lot of details where I felt it wasn't necessary. All in all it was a good book the twist wasn't as incredible as I thought, I kind of guessed it while it was happening.

It was pretty good

I really enjoyed this audiobook because I didn't really know what was going to happen or why it was happening to Grace.

Started off slow but ended up loving it

This book was a little hard to get into, but over time it grows on you. More detail and character development help: but it still lacks. The overall story line was good though, and kept me guessing.

Give it time

the narrator kept it interesting, writer did good job holding my attention all of the way through the story.

great read!

This book was slightly disappointing...I was expecting a little more after all the positive hype and reviews but honestly I wasn't overly impressed with this book. It wasn't horrible, the narrator did a good job but the story was lacking in the overall plot and execution. I feel that I'm being generous by rating this book three stars, five for narrative, overall four.

Not as good as I'd hoped for

Enjoyable psychological thriller with escalating tension and mercifully devoid of a detective. The characters drew me in quickly, because characters with personality disorders often do.
Satisfying listen.

Great characters, riveting story

I wanted to love this book and the narrator, but as both progressed, I found myself suspending some disbelief and frustrated by the narrator's poor differentiation between character voices. But overall, it was a good way to spend a few hours. I was interested in the characters, and how they grew over the course of the story. I didn't really see the twist coming, but I wouldn't say it was "brilliant."
I will check out this author's other book. "the Sister" is worth your time, but I'd buy this book on sale.

A competent Novel

What made the experience of listening to The Sister the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the characters, story and narrator. The book summary indicated a twist, there was one.... wasn't completely unpredictable, but enjoyable nonetheless.

What did you like best about this story?

The main character is lovely but the descriptions were my most enjoyed part of the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The title really says it all, but maybe add "you never know who to trust"....

Quite enjoyable

Any additional comments?

Had a hard time with the accent of the narrator for the first few chapters, but grew used to it and didn't even notice it toward the end of the book.

Great entertainment

I thought this book took a very long time getting to anything that drew me in. It hinted at so many things in the beginning that I wanted to know about but it never revealed more until the end. I found myself half listening more than being engulfed in the story like I usually am. Overall it was pretty good just not much going to grip you until the end.

Slow start but great ending
