About this listen

Tefia is a world ruled by magic; where nations jockey for power and the gods who once spoke to their disciples have been mysteriously silenced. It is a world of exquisite beauty and of horrific loss, of indulgent delights and deadly turns. A world where sky ships sail over lush vineyards and soldiers of fortune comb the ravaged plague-lands that scar the landscape. It is a world where demons walk among men and the lowborn seek solace from their days in a church that is equally as sinful.

Oren and Jerod are swords for hire seeking coin and merriment where they can. When a job goes wrong, they find themselves swept into a conspiracy involving the renowned archmage Telamon Tulthar and the mythic order known as the Storm Singers. The two quickly find themselves playing a much larger game with stakes beyond their worst fears. Their journey will take them across the face of the world and beyond, enlisting the aid of those they encounter along the way.

Tefia is a a world steeped in ancient mysteries. It is a world of grandeur and simplicity. It is a world where archmages bargain with demon princes to achieve their aims and where a band of companions can avert disaster for all, if they can but hold to each other while walking in the shadow of the Storm Singers.

New Fantasy Addiction!

I am enamored of this new world and can't wait for more! As a voracious fantasy buff I can honestly say that this is a story fantasy fans will want to dive into.

There's a terrific blend of humor, action, mystery, and suspense throughout. I also appreciated the magic systems and world building. There was enough explanation to satisfy but enough left unsaid to keep you curious about the world

The cast was memorable with protagonists you quickly come to love and antagonists you like and almost want to see succeed.
I'm very much looking forward to the next installment in the series.

The performance was stellar and the cast was uniquely voiced with different accents and effects. The narrator does a phenomenal job bouncing between cast member voices and accents. The story's tone was set perfectly with the addition of music.

Well worth a credit!

Strong debut novel

I’m the first to admit that high fantasy isn’t my normal fare. Give me a good old-fashioned romance any day. Or a thriller. I’m down for literary fiction as well. But fantasy? I have to have a good reason to dive in and I’ll say Michael Ferraiuolo’s narration is that good reason. As expected, he did a fantastic job with narrating the book. His talent knows no bounds as, as with the other performances I’ve heard him deliver, I was entranced. I also enjoyed the music provided. A little something to keep me interested.

The story itself was expansive, far-reaching, and a challenge to follow. But I’m always up for a challenge and am really glad I stuck with the story as it proved fascinating. And well-written, which is always appreciated. It’s labelled as book 1, so I’ll be keeping my eye out for the next volume…

Incredible Debut Novel!

You never know what to expect from a debut novel but you always know what to expect from Michael Ferraiuolo. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.

The Storm Singers hooks you from the beginning and keeps you engaged for the duration with memorable characters and moments. There's action, humor, mystery, magic, and its all done with a deft hand toward world building. The plot is consistently pushed forward from different view points and keeps you wanting more!

The narration is superb and each charcter is portrayed uniquely. The villains and gods are particularly well done! I loved the additional use of music to punctuate the opening and ending. I truly can't wait for the next installment.

If you enjoy fantasy, don't miss this one!

enjoyed it - solid 4 stars

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, interesting plot, vivid world building.
Being a long time fantasy fan of 30+ years, I acknowledge my expectations are high. I enjoyed Storm Singers. A good debut novel by Michael Boccardi, I found the beginning a little slow to get started, but once it got moving, I became fully invested in the story. The world building is expansive and vivdi, the characters and dialogue well written and it has all the elements that leave me wanting more: humor, action, mystery, suspense.. the list goes on!

🎧 Narrator comment: Michael Ferraiuolo does his usual masterful performance with Storm Singers. A full cast of characters, flawlessly flowing between voices, accents and personalities - he has good timing, rhythm, inflections and intonations. A thoroughly enjoyable performance and he bought the story and characters to life.

Solid debut novel and I look forward to the next instalment.

📌 Where does it fall on my personal scale? 7.5
• 1 not my thing • 2 didn't like the narration • 3 didn't keep my attention • 4 was good, but once was enough [3⭐] • 5 enjoyed it [4⭐] • 6 will listen again if i'm in the mood for the narrator [4⭐] • 7 goes on the "re-listen" list [4⭐] • 8 kept me up past bed-time [4.5⭐] • 9 recommended to family/friends [4.75⭐] • 10 own it in all formats [5⭐] • 11 keep a copy with me at all times [5⭐]

⚠️ Note to self on next re-listen: There is a lot going on in this book, so it isn't a book to have playing while doing something I need to concentrate on ... first time through, I found myself going back a chapter (or 2) on multiple occasions ... 💬 "wait ... what ... when did that happen? ... I've missed something" 🗨️ ,, and then I was focused on the book and missed a significant ingredient in a recipe I was following (or apparently not following 🤪) - but that's a sign of good writing, right?
