Publisher's summary

For as long as she can remember, 12-year-old Emily Windsnap has lived on a boat. And, oddly enough, for just as long, her mother has seemed anxious to keep Emily away from the water. But when Mom finally agrees to let her take swimming lessons, Emily makes a startling discovery about her own identity, about the mysterious father she's never met, and about the thrilling possibilities and perils shimmering deep below the water's surface.

With a sure sense of suspense and richly imaginative details, first-time author Liz Kessler lures us into a glorious world where mermaids study shipwrecks at school and Neptune rules with an iron trident; it's an enchanting fantasy about family secrets, loyal friendship, and the convention-defying power of love.

"This fantasy has some delightful moments." (School Library Journal)
"The premise of someone slipping easily into a shimmery underwater world has considerable allure. Light, imagination-tickling fare ideal for middle-grade girls." (Booklist)

I listen to this book at 10 years old.

still holds up now that I'm 28. it was one of my first audiobooks. I adored it then and it still holds a special place in my heart. is it the best for a 28 year old? nah. it's written for pre-teens and I recommend it for all ages 9-14. it's a great gateway series that opens up a love of reading and books. highly recommend if you're looking for a good mermaid book for pre-teens or even an easy listen as an adult.

Swishy

I discovered these books a while back while purchasing them for a friend's daughter. I had to read them first of course. I fell in love with them then and it's lovely to now hear them narrated. it brings a special life to the story. I especially like the descriptive details of the undersea world. The narrator did a lovely job of bringing all that to life as well as bringing the emotion to the relationships. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series as well. The stories appeal to my inner mermaid and they will always be favorites for me.

Wonderful book!

I really loved listening to this book! It really was very impressive. It is about a normal girl who wants to take swimming lessons and turns in to a mermaid. You get an awesome beginning and a wonderful middle and a great ending. I think that the narator did an excilent job narating it. If I could, I would thank her for bringing out the story and characters. 10 on this book!

Really cute mystery

I only got this book for my sons book report and although neither of us were thrilled to read a mermaid book it was actually pretty cute with a kid mystery to it

pretty good

What made the experience of listening to The Tail of Emily Windsnap the most enjoyable?

This is my first time using audio books. It did make a few of word mistakes. But over all I thought it helped me so now what I need for my project. We are comparing real mermaids and fake mermaids.

Love,
Hannah Espinola

P.S.
We have discovered that mermaids
may still be living on earth.

What did you like best about this story?

How Emily did whatever she had to do to find her dad.

Have you listened to any of Finty Williams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not so I do not know the answer to that question.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When there were hammer head sharks were guarding the MERMAID prison when all sharks
eat mermaids.

Any additional comments?

I thought it was a really good book.

The tail of Emily Windsnap

I love the book but the person who read it skipped words and changed some things in the book. For example:” that was great “! She would say that was magnificent!”
