Publisher's summary

A simple way to connect your neighborhood and your community and build friendships.

Are you consumed with a busy life but unsure how to slow down? Do you desire connection within your community and think, Absolutely, but I don't have time for that or I can't create that? What if there was another way through it all, a way to find those moments of peace and to create a time for honest, comfortable connection? What if meeting neighbors and connecting with friends was as simple as showing up and being available?

Desperate for a way to slow down and connect, Kristin Schell put an ordinary picnic table in her front yard, painted it turquoise, and began inviting friends and neighbors to join her. Life changed in her community, and it can change in yours, too. Alongside personal and heartwarming stories, Kristin gives you:

  • Stress-free ideas for kick-starting your own Turquoise Table
  • Simple recipes to take outside and share with others
  • Stories from people using Turquoise Tables in their neighborhoods
  • Encouragement to overcome barriers that keep you from connecting
  • New ways to view hospitality

Today, Turquoise Tables are inviting individuals to connect with each other in nearly all 50 states and seven countries. Ordinary people like you wanting to make a difference right where they live.

Community and friendship are waiting just outside your front door.

An Amazing Read of Love, Faith, Community

I love that this is an idea that span not just your immediate neighborhood, but the community at large. I have been thinking for sometime about ways to get myself and others together on a regular basis to share our stories, joys or pains. This book gave me the courage to go forward with my idea of putting a bench in my Church yard, as I live in an association development, where people can sit and talk after worship or whenever the want.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Simple idea that's a game changer

Easy listen that will fuel your fire to connect. Kristin's honesty helps create a relatable experience. Although I usually skip books with a religious bent, the subject matter applies across all faiths/non-faiths... if you are looking to create belonging, religion doesn't have to matter.

I'm getting ready to put my version Turquoise Table to work! Thanks Kristin!

The book is lovely. I am contemplating getting the hard copy just for the recipes! The concept is adaptable. I like it.

Highly recommend!

Loved it!!!! I listened to chapters at a time, and looked forward to the next time I could squeeze more listening in....on the ride home from dropping my daughter off at school, while doing dishes, etc.

Such a beautiful story

We are a prior miltary family. My husband just recently finished his enlistment after 8 years of service. We have settled down and bought our first home in a cute little community we hope to stay in for years to come. Unfortunately we don't know anyone here. Naturally I'm a very homey welcoming person. I love to host, I love to have friends over. The more the merrier! That's hard to do when you are new to town with no connections. My aunt suggested this book after I was talking with her about ideas to get involved. I'm so thankful for this suggestion. I'm going to buy my table and paint tomorrow! I'm so very excited to see how God opens and moves our hearts with this ministry. Excited to become a front yard person ❤️
