Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling authors Rachel Cohn and David Levithan are back together with a life-affirming holiday romance starring Dash and Lily. Just in time for the series release of Dash & Lily on Netflix!

Dash and Lily have had a tough year since readers/listeners watched the couple fall in love in Dash & Lily's Book of Dares. Lily's beloved grandfather suffered a heart attack, and his difficult road to recovery has taken a major toll on her typically sunny disposition. Lily's spark has dimmed so much that Langston, her brother, has put aside his grudge against Dash to team up and remind Lily what there is to love about life. With only 12 days left until Christmas - Lily's favorite time of the year - Dash, Langston, and their friends take Manhattan by storm to help Lily recapture the holiday spirit of New York City in December, a time and place unlike anywhere else in the world. Told in alternating chapters, The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily is bound to be a Christmas favorite for seasons to come.

leave politics out

the political commentary could be left out , would be the better for it and not date the story and make irrelevant in the future

not a must read

cute story overall but the characters (especially Lily's) are rather shallow and the story is not that interesting. the perfomance is ok, l liked Dash's narration better.

It’s what you can expect

The magic of the first story couldn’t be captured, which is no surprise. After listening to the first story last year, I hadn’t planned on listening to the second one. After rewatching the Netflix series based off the first book, I wanted to try to listen to the second book.

The story is okay. It’s a little over the top and cringe at times, but that’s okay. It’s just that some of the characters are so over the top and unbelievable that it can be annoying. Boomer, for instance, is annoyingly idiotic. “I can ask that girl Amber in my chemistry class to put out an alert.” If his character said things to be funny, that would be one thing, but it’s the fact that the characters all genuinely believe he means the things he says that makes it annoying. The show made him into a real person. In the book it seems like someone wants to make a joke of people on the autism spectrum. It’s infuriating. There are other characters too that just seem so flat when they shouldn’t be.

The performances are great.

Honestly if you just want an easy listen that is sweet and cheesy for the holidays, it’s not a bad choice. It just could have been better. Or maybe I’m just outgrowing my love of YA.

Amazing Romance Book!

Would you listen to The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily again? Why?

Yes, the book told a good story and the narrator portrayed it well.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lily because she reminded me of one of my best friends.

What does Tara Sands and Ryan Gesell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices seem to come to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, it made me cry because it made me think of how some couples are just meant to be.

Story Lagged

Loved the Netflix show. This story lagged a bit, and I struggled to finish the last third. The grandpas health and Lilys lackluster holiday spirit was a good opener. The skating librarians would have been great on screen haha. Like another review said, I could have done without the politician's name being thrown out as a dog chew toy. Took me out of the escapism of the story.

Really annoying narration

I literally cannot stand the woman's voice - it drove me crazy and made it difficult to listen. I kept wanting to turn it down so far I wouldn't be able to hear the story
