About this listen

When DCI Adam Bishop arrives at the crime scene in the dead of night, the sight of the body is bad enough—but what Adam notices next chills him to his core. More bodies surface. And the spray-painted numbers daubed above the corpses reveal the horrific truth: the killer is counting down. But to what end?

Adam has no idea—until Dr. Romilly Cole knocks on his door with damning evidence pointing to a series of murders fifteen years earlier—a case she knows intimately from her past. Now, it’s personal—and the next knock on his door could be fatal.

Sam Holland’s gripping debut novel, The Echo Man, riveted fans and critics alike with its raw and brutal depiction of the unthinkable depredations of a serial killer. With The Twenty, Holland kicks her depraved milieu into even higher gear with a thrilling, up-all-night listen.

Terrible narrator

This was difficult to get through. The narrator was terrible. Every character sounded angry. He spoke in a cadence that greeted on my every nerve.

Great right up to the end!

Sam Holland’s sophomore book is an exceptional follow-up to “The Echo Man.” She is clever and twisted and incredibly intuitive as to where the reader’s mind want to go and so has fun playing with it! “The 20” has such dark roots that are cleverly stitches into the narrative all spiraling together until it’s so tight that is explodes. The best part of the explosion is it doesn’t end there, as aftershocks keep waving through right up to the bitter end. Above all this, the narration was a perfect match to the storytelling! Solid 5 stars!!

Started off Ok

I read Echo Man first and I thought it would be good to follow through with the next book. First you should know, I thought this was a continuation of characters from first book- it is not. There's only a very small couple of tidbits with one of the characters, otherwise its all new people. Started off pretty promising, but eventually went downhill. I really dislike the way the author portrays women. It became difficult to listen to. I did finish, but the ending was unbelievable and imo ridiculous. Narrator was good tho. I wouldn't recommend.
