About this listen

My greatest enemy has always been myself. Over the past few weeks, I've painstakingly put my broken pieces back together, from the dark mysteries of my past to the heartrending conflict of my present.

But just when I finally start to feel whole again, everything around me falls apart.

Lallakai, the newly ascended Queen of Shadow and Death, betrays us and takes Zak prisoner. Echo, the powerful fae I thought would help save Zak, threatens to kill me. And Ríkr's nemesis, the ruthless Summer Queen, is hunting him again.

With the four ancient fae poised to battle for supremacy, I'm the only one who can prevent a catastrophic clash of their power. But stopping them will require more than druidic magic. It'll take an act of destruction as devastating as they are.

I'm about to test the strength of my scarred heart, and if I fail, I'll end up destroying everything—and everyone—I'm most desperate to protect.

Her regular reading voice is fine enough, but the voices she gives some characters just seem so exaggerated and end up really grating after a while.

Not a fan of the reader

I have loved the entire Guild Codex series. I hope that this world continues, this book is amazing as per usual for Annette Marie.

Can't get enough of this world

This is the perfect end to the series. Which power-hungry Fae will implode? Which will succeed in taking over more territory? Will the heroine finally get over her trauma and look at the facts? So many threads and yet Marie manages to seamlessly weave them together into a twisting plot that leaves you guessing almost to the end. The story absolutely ends here and it is glorious.

so glad I waited for the whole series!

4.5 stars

I definitely liked how this ended. While this series was heavier than the other ones, Zak and Saber are definitely broken, not to mention Rikr, who I really liked, despite his earlier betrayal. The understanding he and Saber come to in the end made sense to me and I was satisfied with how that was resolved. Some of the politics with the other fae were not as interesting for me, but I really liked learning Rikr's story, and I liked how his relationship with Saber evolved over time. The end left me feeling satisfied for my favorite characters.

I also enjoyed having appearances from the other three series, especially from my favorites, Zylas and Robin. I loved it when Kit ends up in their apartment. I was laughing so hard. I loved how characters from all four ended up working together to ultimately help Zak and Saber. Although we the reader know all of their stories, we are working with more information than the characters themselves, especially Kit and Lienna vs the Crow and Hammer Guild. But it's so satisfying to watch realization hit them and for them to realize things may not be what they always thought, especially Kit and Lienna.

Overall, this was very well done and I loved that Zak finally found a way to be at peace with his past.

Fantastic ending

would be better if all in one book than 4 separate books. Sabre was too whiny throughout all 4 books. I kept screaming "Sing to activate your aurasphere!"

the conclusion was food

This 4th of the Druid books really tied things together for me. I hope there is more to come of Zach & Sabre; there’s definitely an opening to another several books or another off shoot with the Crow & Hammer.

I have now caught up on all of the books in the relatives series’ and am hungry for more!

Great 4 installment of the series

Amazing, perfect, spectacular. Those are just a few words that describe this serious. I wish it would continue but it ended on such a beautiful note.

Gasp

Good addition and completion of a side arc to the Guild Codex world. No unnecessary continuation but plenty to reference for the other main and side arc storylines. Left plenty of room for future use while also feeling like a satisfying ending if nothing ever happens again.

Complementary addition to the world
