Publisher's summary

Charlie Rhodes is living the high life...at least for her. She lucked into a new apartment, her boyfriend Jack is attentive and sweet, and she’s about to head to the Big Easy to hunt for zombies.

Yes, a multitude of dreams are about to come true.

Charlie has never been to New Orleans, and she’s in awe of everything she sees. Jack is determined to make sure she has a good time, which means authentic food, music, and haunted tours. He’s happy just to be with her as she investigates the city.

The one sore spot of the trip is the talk of zombies. Jack doesn’t believe they exist. Charlie and their boss think it’s possible. Oh, yeah, and dead bodies are rising all over town and no one can explain why.

Charlie is at a crossroads in her life. She has magic at her disposal, and the people in New Orleans might be the only ones with answers as to why she is the way she is. The question is: Who to trust?

The closer Charlie and Jack get, the more she realizes she has to tell him the truth. She’s running out of time, though. She needs to protect the people she cares about most and solve an unthinkable crime. She has no idea how to do it.

New Orleans is a magical city, and Charlie is a magical girl. She can’t hide forever, though. The truth will come out with at least one person...she just has to survive long enough to explain her side of things in the aftermath.

That’s not a given in a world where the dead are rising...and trying to kill everybody they come in contact with.

gets better with every book!

the way this series began, i thought it was going to be your basic paranormal cozy, but it's becoming so much more than that! there's a lot more depth and substance than first implied. Charlie is learning as she goes, but she's more than expected, too.
..aa for Jack? he's Way more than expected! this whole time i kept thinking, she's making a big mistake not telling him. he's going to, at the very least, leave her til he 'comes to his senses', like so many other leading men in these stories. he will definitely surprise you!
..im just really impressed with the way ms Lee has given so much more to this series and these characters. very impressive, indeed=)

This one is my favorite

Jack gets another lesson on Charlie’s being in charge of her own choices. It is a great listen.

The best one yet

The best one yet! Yes it deserved to be repeated. Charlie will face it all in NOLA and I don’t mean just some. New brings will be met and some alliances forged.

I just finished listening and keep thinking I should listen again. I want the next chapter now.

Good series.

I lke this series. In this book, the Legacy foundation travels to New Orleans to investigate zombies. Charlie faces some changes. She is afraid to tell Jack her secret. Forces are stacking against her. This is the first book where Charlie displays strong powers. The paranormal threatens to cross into Charlie's "normal" multiple times. This book sets the stage for Charlie's story to progress. The mystery was different and interesting. Pacing was good.

Great series

Fun series with great characters. Love the h and H, but also the rest of the cast, except Laura. But we are supposed to hate her, so it's fine. Highly recommend the series. In order is best for dynamic and story progression, but not required. Told from Charlie's POV.

Great Read !

This book is packed full. So much character development and movement on the larger story behind Charlie Rhodes. Not to mention that one of the characters introduced will be showing up in a new series. Amanda M. Lee is great at leaving the reader satisfied with the story but anxiously awaiting more.

What a hoot!

Charlie Rhodes is such a hoot! I seriously couldn't wait to get my hands on this book after finishing Lee's The Megldon Mix-up... I needed to know what happens next! Lee's books are like a Cozy Mystery and an Urban Fantasy, all rolled into one, and they completely satisfy two of my inner cravings at once!
Jennifer Jill Araya gives us another outstanding performance as she navigated us past the pitfalls that Amanda Lee threw in the way of her characters!
This time, Charlie and the team find themselves in New Orleans looking into a possible zombie uprising, and they're actually confronted by, yeah... you guessed it, Zombies! Charlie of course uncovers so much more in her efforts to solve the crime... like for instance a Crossroads Demon, and Papa Legba... but ah, ah, ah... I can't give it all away, you'll need to grab the book to find out what happens next!
