Publisher's summary

In The Undiscovered Self Jung explains the essence of his teaching for an audience unfamiliar with his ideas. He highlights the importance of individual responsibility and freedom in the context of today's mass society and argues that individuals must organise themselves as effectively as the organized mass if they are to resist joining it.

To help them achieve this he sets out his influential programme for achieving self-understanding and self-realisation. The Undiscovered Self is a book that will awaken many individuals to the new life of the self that Jung visualised. Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) founded the analytical school of psychology and developed a radical new theory of the unconscious.

Critic reviews

"This is a very important book indeed. It is a short book. And it is written with a simple directness, unlike Jung’s longer and more technical books, readers should approach the book with an open mind. Suspicious staring and skinning are not good enough." (J. B Priestly)

Good summary of Jung’s Theory of the Individual.

Interesting in how Jung’s understanding of the crush the Mass’s impact on the individual struggling to be realized is applicable to today’s World, maybe even more than in his.

Very eye opening

I loved how well they connected the conscious and unconscious mind ideology for me. And I know more about the shadow self.

Powerful insights for the present reader

It has been a clarifying ‘audible’ to understand the human individual today… It’s like Jung had written this to help us stand up.

The Undeliscoverded Trurg

This book provides a lot of good insight on the conscious and unconscious self thoughts. It was an agreeable topic and useful book.

A great book for those that want to grow strong!

I enjoyed the length of the book and how it was organized towards ideal comprehension. Jung's work can be understood with greater ease. I will be reading this again and again in application.

Great book. Bad recording.

I love the book it was full of interesting and intriguing concepts. My only issue was that the recording cut off the first couple of words every few sentences. If you want to get this as a supplement to reading the book that could be a great idea. however, I would not suggest just getting the audio book without reading as well.

Digestible, thought-provoking without being pushy

It's a pretty short book with glaringly obvious truths we all choose to ignore or idealize to the point they seem unachievable. Good intro to Jung and psychology/philosophy in general.

Gorgeous Language from a brilliant mind

This is a great quick little audiobook. Great starter Jung with ideas more relevant now than they were when written.

I’ve also read modern man in search of a soul. I am a Masters level CMHC.

I don’t necessarily understand all of this but there are at times moments of clarity and insight that I believe make reading/listening to it worthwhile. The performance is also done really well at 1.1x speed

Not bad but not great either

I usually love Psychological and philosophical books but for whatever reason it wasn't the best it could be just the Narrator. I know there's a alot of good information for someone else just wasn't my thing I suppose
