Publisher's summary

A foggy night... a lonely country house... and a woman with a gun in her hand quietly surveying the dead body of her husband. It looked like a straightforward case of murder. Or was it?

As the ghosts of an old wrong begin to emerge from the past, the case begins to look anything but straightforward...

First staged at the Duchess Theatre in London in 1958, this play ran for 604 performances and is as gripping and ingenious as you would expect from the Queen of Crime.

Suspenseful, well acted!

Suspenseful, briskly paced and the perfect length story for a misty walk in the park with my dog.

Quick Read but still Great!

This story really was amazing. I never caught on to who the murder was and the further into the story it got the more I enjoyed it and felt the intensity to it. Great performance and wonderful book.

A new one on me, but now a favorite

A new one on me, but now a favorite. Cleverly plotted with a twist at the end that you never see coming.

The twist ending

I have read many Agatha Christie murder mysteries; this is one of the very best! I can see why this play lasted so long at an English Theater in 1958! This book should not be missed in the menagerie of Christie mysteries. Agatha Christie was an extremely talented writer. Your reading time could not be spent in a more exquisite envelope of time. I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but this read was uniquely different. Dear reader....enjoy!!!

Very good

Good story and well-performed. I thought I had it figured out pretty early on and would've been slightly disappointed, but as the story developed more I was definitely not disappointed.

LOVED It!

Is there a bad Agatha Christie book? As always I enjoyed the story. I can almost see this one being played out on a stage at the local theater. Perhaps the players at Barter Theater will pick it up one day soon.
