About this listen

Lord Hampton cursed his luck. Six dukes were in league together to force their sons to marry, and one of them was his own father. The old men had drawn up a formal pact, with severe consequences to their heirs included. Edwin is determined to devise a way out of it, he has no intention of marrying any time soon. He's also desperate to get his name off the ton's lips. Mamas are circling like hunters round a wounded stag and every pert little miss is fanning herself.

Cassandra Knightsbridge, only daughter of Viscount Trebly, has not had a very usual upbringing. She rides like the devil, leaving her groom far behind...if she bothered to take a groom at all. More alarming, there would be few gentlemen who could best her with a fowling piece. She knows those particular habits will not find approval in a London drawing room and ought not be mentioned. That is, until a condescending lord provokes her.

Might not a tale of a girl who shoots turn society's attention away from the dukes' pact? The whispers wind their way through drawing rooms and the talk about Miss Knightsbridge blooms.

Edwin's love for the lady blooms too, but now he's made it impossible to win her.

Contains mature themes.

This was a good, clean listen. No “mature themes“ or cussing (which I love) but the storyline was a little unrealistic and the lead female character became annoying by the end. The storyline featured overly indulgent adults and immature young people on the marriage mart in London Society. I listened to the whole book because I have a serious problem letting any book I’ve started go unfinished, but I won’t be continuing the series. This is probably better suited to a teenage listener.

Not really good or really bad, just meh.

This was good. No kissing, no sex, no seduction. The hero is not a rake or a rogue. Just a grown man being forced to wed by his father.

Good

One of the more interesting stories I’ve found in regency romance. This chaste tale is full of fun and imagination, charming, unusual heroine, the requisite hot duke, and an addictive story. What’s not to like?

Lots of fun!

This could have been better if the author cut the last 4 chapters.
The author best to death the heroines bitterness and grudge.
It was difficult to believe she just all of a sudden forgave.
It may have been more believable if the story took a different turn (as was presented in chapters 14/15 ish don’t want to give spoilers)
The fact she did not, it just made the story go on and on and on…,
Disappointed.

It was okay. It had an amusing story line but it dragged after a few chapters

Really slow story. After 3 chapters, I jumped to the ending. No way could I put up with the stupidity of the lead lady. Yikes it felt like I was listening to a really bad junior high school play with a teacher scratching her nails on the chalkboard. Terrible narration. Really bad story.

Terrible!

I'm unsure how this was ever categorized as a romance. They was no sparks, no flirting, not even a staring into one another's eyes. I don't need steamy bedroom scenes, but I would like to believe that the leading roles at least liked each other. There was very little conversation between the characters. Very boring book. I'm glad it was free. Not interested in anything wise by this author.

You call that a Romance?
