John McLain
Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition two months after their marriage when a devastating car wreck left Krickitt with a massive head injury and in a coma for weeks. When she finally awoke, she had no idea who Kim was and no recollection of their relationship. While Krickitt experienced personality changes common to those who suffer head injuries, Kim realized the woman he had married essentially died in the accident. And yet, against all odds, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again. The Vow tells the true story of this journey, one of a commitment unbroken and a vow fulfilled. Includes an exclusive interview with Kim and Krickitt Carpenter!

Where does The Vow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 80%.What did you like best about this story?
There is something extra special about a true story. This couples' commitment to The Vow they made to each other in the presence of God is powerful, and a challenge to others who today are so quick to give up on their marriage vows. What does John McLain bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The ability to "read" the book while driving. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Longer than I can sit still, but my interest in the story was strong enough.Any additional comments?
Now I can't wait to see the movie!I Do

What made the experience of listening to The Vow the most enjoyable?
I had heard about the movie, but wanted to read the original story before seeing the movie. I am disappointed that the "Hollywood" version of the movie doesn't tell the TRUTH about how important Kim and Krickitt's faith and belief in God helped them to get thru this incredible, yet miraculous 7 year period following Krickitt's severe head injury. This story is ALL about FAITH, BELIEF, promise, comittment, etc...how can Hollywood leave that out? What did you like best about this story?
The way the extended families helped out and supported this newly married couple. What does John McLain bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
John McLain is an excellent reader. He doesn't put too much drama into his voice in the annoying way that some readers do. The volume stays constant, so this is a wonderful for listening to in a car while driving. If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Until DEATH do we part!Any additional comments?
When people VOW at a marriage ceremony to LOVE, in sickness and in health, until death do we part - they really don't know what they are comitting to and what those VOWS might really mean. This couple stayed together, thru sickness and health after just a few weeks of marriage. The MOVIE doesn't lend justice to the part this couple's faith and trust in GOD played in their struggle. Hopefully, the Movie will lead people to reading the true story or listening to it on this audio book.Required reading for engaged couples!
