Seven years ago, Marlie Jacobson was kidnapped by a serial killer - and lived to tell about it. But it was actually her mother who told the story, in a best-selling book that made Marlie famous. Today, she's known as the girl who slew a killer. The one who got away. Now, there's just one thing Marlie wants to get away from: her past. But when her little sister disappears, her worst fears come rushing back-with a vengeance....

Kenai Michelson is a world-renowned investigator. Dark, brooding, and dangerously good-looking, he's the kind of man Marlie would normally avoid at all costs. As her trust in Kenai grows, so does their fierce connection. But will their desire turn deadly as they close in on a ruthless enemy who's watching their every move?

Pretty Good Suspense !!

The story was great, suspenseful and interesting. The female character was pretty annoying, but that's most likely because I'm not big on whiney characters who make decisions based solely on emotion.

True crime and romance

Bella Jewel wrote an amazing book filled with all the suspense and emotions with my favorite combo, true crime and romance. Maxine Mitchell cared the entire book magnificently and Joe Arden narrates a few chapter in the POV of the main male character. even with a limited number of chapter, Joe Arden does an amazing narration as always!! I highly suggest this book if you love true crime!

Amazing and Suspenseful

This book had me on the edge of my seat from the prologue. It certainly had a HEA with all the steamy and suspense in between. The narration was perfection. I understand the choice to have Joe only narrate a few chapters as this was mainly the female POV but I do wish he had a bigger part. The thrill and suspense of who done it was a great mix with the hot, steamy romance!

Good story

Good story, but was able to pick out the bad guy fairly quick. Still a good read tho!

Thriller

Who is the bad guy? That is the question all through this book and you will not guess who it is. Very light on the romance. I thought the author wrote a good story.

Thriller romance. 1POV. HEA. Standalone.

⚠️ trigger warning for psycho physical abuse.

I have loved Bella Jewel books but one thing I have noticed is that some of the heroines are.... well.... annoying and dumb. But this heroine takes the award for annoying and dumb. I think the total times the man tells the girl to “stay here” is four times and she doesn’t, thus walking into stupid situations and getting herself into trouble. Also, it is blatant that one of friendships isn’t quite right, and yet the discrepancies are ignored. Also, the characters are repeatedly getting “bad feelings” but they ignore them.

. It is a “simmering” romance. Joe Arden is great at narration but only narrates like three chapters. There is an Hea but it is lackluster. This is a standalone but sets up for another book.

A different story, worth it!

Performance-wise, 98% of the book was the FMC POV, so since it's a Dual narration, expect Maxine to narrate most of the book. Spice level was 1 of 5. As for the story, i didn't really hear about TW, but it has dark parts, it's got a serial killer, and skinning description. It was very interesting and the MC interactions were really good! The PTSD trauma was explained very well. I really enjoyed it. It's a HAE.

Nothing special and no surprise who the psychopath kidnapper is, pretty easy to figure out but it may have been intentional. I absolutely love the narrators they’re two of my favorites but I’m very disappointed that only a very small portion was read by Joe Arden. It’s an ok filler for your in between credits but that’s about it.

Hmmm the story behind the salker/kidnappers reason was sub par. I liked 72 hours more than this one.
