Publisher's summary

When she finds out his secret, will he lose her for good?

Jacob Winters has a secret: He's come to Colton undercover as an FBI handler. He didn't plan to stay, but the small town has charmed him with a sense of community he hasn't felt in a long time. And his attraction to the beautiful Mae Colton complicates things even more. Jacob doesn't do relationships-he won't risk making memories he might regret.

Mae Colton loves her little town of Colton, Mississippi, and doesn't want to leave. In fact, instead of moving on to bigger things - namely a political career in DC - like she'd planned, she wants to run for a second term as mayor of Colton. But not everyone in town supports this choice, including the commitment-phobic Jacob Winters.

Mae is ready to make their secret relationship official and go public, but that would break Jacob's one rule. When a threat against Mae's life forces him to admit the truth of his feelings, he has to race to save the woman he loves before it's too late.

Contains mature themes.

I adored this book.

It was a wonderful love story. I loved the fact that they came together through a lot of turmoil. We really don't think about all mixed couples go through. It's nice to see that love won over at the end. I highly recommend this book.

Overcoming Adversity for Love

This third book in the Colton series is the best yet. Mae is a strong and courageous woman. She has to find out if the man she wants to stand beside her is just as strong and courageous. She has no idea what she’s in for. Well done.

Good story

Loved the story it is An excellent addiction to the series. Narrator was a bit disappointing this time her pitch & tempo were off compared to the 2 other books. Hope the first 2 book performances are used as guides when the next book is recorded

People do change

I loved the storyline. Mae and Jacobs story was unique. I knew that they would end up together, just wasn’t sure that would work out. I like the way the author worked it in. Loved the addition of Petunia. I was hoping that Uncle Robert and his true love would have worked into the story more and that we would find out who it was. I have an idea 😏. Zuzu was great as before, I just wasn’t pleased with Jacobs voice. Also, who Presley was trying to impress. So many other couples I want to know about!!

research on plot devises

author needs to do more research on how medical confidentiality and how hospital visits work. her parent would have never been able to enter without consent of patient, doctors would never release information haphazardly.

same with haphazard conversation in front of MAE as FBI agents.
