About this listen

A woman embarks on a desperate search for her missing best friend and uncovers a twisted web of lies in this “razor-sharp and impossible to put down” (Daily Mail, London) thriller from the internationally bestselling author of Her One Mistake.

Anna loves Girls’ Night with her friends. With the kids safely in bed, it’s a chance for the women to let loose, enjoy some wine, and just laugh. But after one lively evening, Anna doesn’t arrive for school drop-off the next morning—or the next, or the next.

Everyone, especially her husband and young son, is frantic with worry, but none more so than Grace, her childhood best friend. Grace is certain that someone is hiding the truth about Anna’s unexplained disappearance. As rumors fly and accusations are whispered among neighbors, Grace decides to take matters into her own hands and find out what happened to Anna…or die trying, in this “original, clever, and gripping thriller about toxic female friendships with a killer twist” (Claire Douglas, author of Just Like the Other Girls).

A bit slow and scattered.

a little disappointed in this book. I could never quite like any of the characters. Couldn't relate to any of them. the story bounced around and dragged quite a bit. Not nearly as engaging as many of the other books that I have listened to recently.

Really Good Surprise Twist

I did enjoy this book. It starts off a bit slow to provide character development and glimpses of backstory but the writing and plot was interesting enough to keep going. The story is conveyed thru past and present and it’s just about midway that a shift happens to start questioning everything. It was pretty brilliant!

Narration was really good with the exception of when Grace was to speak. Sound quality was off every time which detracted from how good it could have been!!

Disappointing Twist

I enjoyed listening to this but I was kinda of let down by the "big twist" of the story. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The story wasn't all bad, just a bit anticlimactic. If you're looking for something to really shock or surprise you, this one ain't it.

wonderful writing

Loved it. Very intriguing and unexpected plot twists. The NZ accents were an added depth.

Very, Very Good

This book is incredibly well written, beautifully performed, and full of surprises.
It’s been a long time since I was totally shocked by the ending of a “whodunit”.
This story is engaging, relatable, spooky, and constructed well.
I love when a book has you thinking you really and truly understand what’s going on, it lets you walk right down the hallway, certain that you have been clever enough to suss out how things will end and who the “real” villain is, only to find out that nothing is what you thought.
This book was such a great listen, brilliant and clever and full of surprises.
Also the narration is absolutely top notch, each of these performers add something to the totality of the story.
I particularly loved the little inserts of the detached 3rd party (almost like a news report or a blogger) at different junctures in the story.
It was very unique and refreshing as it added another way of looking at the events as they unfolded.
It’s nice to hear about these things from a neutral perspective with no connection to the characters, just an observing presence.
I really enjoyed that.
These characters are very, very well developed.
The backstory is interesting.
And as the story progresses, it becomes more engrossing with each turn of the page.
I highly recommend this one.

An Excellent Story

Will definitely want to read, and listen... to more stories from this Author.
Interesting twists and turns throughout, and I was never really sure "who" did "what" in the end. Totally enjoyed. Would love a part two.

Great book!

I loved the characters in this book, they were well written, even the unlikable ones. The story line was believable and it kept my interest the whole time. A mix between a mom friends domestic thriller and a mystery. Recommend!!!

Not worth my time

This book is boring and has weak characters. The narration was just as bad, I was glad each character was stated by name so I could understand who was talking.

Flat

This was a pretty flat book, minimal suspense and pretty predictable. I guessed the end about half way through and was disappointed there weren’t more twists or turns to get there.
