About this listen

“Taut, clever, compelling, and guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.” —Paula Hawkins, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Girl on the Train and Into the Water

From the bestselling author of Anatomy of a Scandal—now a hit Netflix series—a new thought-provoking novel exploring the complexity of motherhood and all that connects and disconnects us.

You think you know her…but look a little closer.

She is a stay-at-home mother-of-three with boundless reserves of patience, energy, and love. After being friends for a decade, this is how Liz sees Jess.

Then one moment changes everything.

Dark thoughts and carefully guarded secrets surface—and Liz is left questioning everything she thought she knew about her friend, and about herself. The truth can’t come soon enough.

With Sarah Vaughan’s signature “clever and compelling” (Claire Douglas, author of Last Seen Alive) prose, Little Disasters is a tightly-wound and evocative page-turner that will haunt you long after you finish the last word.

So many twists and so much suspense

Sarah Vaughan knows exactly how to keep you guessing and keep you listening. The narrators were all wonderful, and I raced through this listen!

Realistic and touching, if sometimes slightly heavy handed, portrayal of motherhood, parenting, and relationships.

I was gripped from the start, and surprised at the ending. Cleverly told from multiple character perspectives and jumps in time. Moving story of the challenges of the shifting friendships, identity shifts, and life balance that come with motherhood. Very moving account of postpartum trauma and mental health battles.

Great story

A well written story. Hard to stop listening. So many unexpected twists and turns. I highly recommend it if you like books like “Gone Girl” or Girl On A Train”.

Really good

If you've ever been alone with a colicky baby, this might be the saddest book you've ever read.

Weird

This was a strange book. There was also something weird about the audio - just not the best production quality. The narrators themselves were great but the sound was weird.

Thriller! Very relatable re: Postpartum.

Good thriller until the end. Trigger warning for new parents/postpartum situations - that part can be heavy during chapters of the book.

emotionally draining

thankfully postpartum depression is recognized as real and something not to be kept hidden- this novel succinctly captures how it was n the past for some new moms.

Intriguing

This book is definitely unique! It is dangerously relatable to a mother of four. It reaches just the right level of disturbing and kept me interested the entire time.
