About this listen

A moment on the subway platform changes two women’s lives forever - a debut thriller that will take your breath away.

A total stranger on the subway platform whispers, “Take my baby.”

She places her child in your arms. She says your name.

Then she jumps....

In a split second, Morgan Kincaid’s life changes forever. She’s on her way home from work when a mother begs her to take her baby, then places the infant in her arms. Before Morgan can stop her, the distraught mother jumps in front of an oncoming train.

Morgan has never seen this woman before, and she can’t understand what would cause a person to give away her child and take her own life. She also can’t understand how this woman knew her name.

The police take Morgan in for questioning. She soon learns that the woman who jumped was Nicole Markham, prominent CEO of the athletic brand Breathe. She also learns that no witness can corroborate her version of events, which means she’s just become a murder suspect.

To prove her innocence, Morgan frantically retraces the last days of Nicole’s life. Was Nicole a new mother struggling with paranoia or was she in danger? When strange things start happening to Morgan, she suddenly realizes she might be in danger, too.

Woman on the Edge is a pulse-pounding, propulsive thriller about the lengths to which a woman will go to protect her baby - even if that means sacrificing her own life.

This is a very engaging and compelling book. The summary was intriguing and the storyline did not disappoint.

The plot had the potential to be great, but the characters seemed underdeveloped and I guessed the twist about a fourth of the way in. The narrator was AWFUL. I actually couldn’t even finish listening to it because of the whiney voice/dialogue.

Decent Plot, Terrible Narrator

The narrator made the women in the story sound weak and helpless. I'm not sure it was necessary.
I did want to find out what had happened. Great job to the author for the way it starts!!

Great story from beginning to end. This is a page turner. Listened to it in two day. So disappointed when it finished.

Couldn’t stop listening......

The story was ok but some huge holes. A CEO can’t take more time off without being voted out of her own company? Why would a normally strong woman cave so easily, not get help or ask different questions. A bit annoying and frankly, not believable.

Good story but …

Good story line - characters were interesting, but not all developed. Didn’t like the reading of Morgan’s character. Kind of nervous and whines. She seemed too invested too soon to be believable.
Overall 3.5 stars.

A WOMAN ON THE EDGE both literally and figuratively, kept me rapt wondering the whos and whys of the plot. Why did a woman give her baby to a stranger? Did she jump or was she pushed? Is the woman to whom she handed the baby a reliable narrator?

I’m going to have to look into more Samantha Bailey books.

I think I would have liked this book if I had read it. To be fair, I liked the premise and felt the author did a good job weaving it all together. I found the big ‘twist’ predictable, but I read and listen to a LOT of psychological thrillers. However - I just could NOT get over how utterly whiney and annoying the narrator made Morgan! Even when she was yelling - it was whiney. When she was assertive - whiney. Terrified - whiney. Vulnerable- whiney. You get my point. Ruined the whole character for me.

Can I at least get some cheese with all the Whine?

I couldn’t stop listening! The story had me from the start and kept going😀😀

Good book, crazy concept, it kept me thinking and working to sort out the plot. I did find a couple of the characters 'whiney'...it was more the performance related than story.
