Now a Netflix feature film!

A New York Times best seller.

It’s been almost a year since Makani Young came to live with her grandmother and she’s still adjusting to her new life in rural Nebraska. Then, one by one, students at her high school begin to die in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing and grotesque flair.

As the body count rises and the terror grows closer, can Makani survive the killer’s twisted plan?

Critic reviews

"A heart-pounding page-turner with an outstanding cast of characters, a deliciously creepy setting, and an absolutely merciless body count.” (Courtney Summers, New York Times best-selling author of Sadie and The Project)

I was skeptical at first, but I continued further into the story it turned out better than I expected. A nice read for the Autumn season 🎃😊

Not bad for a YA thriller.

I loved that this book just grabs you and brings you In immediately and keeps you wondering what’s going to happen next. I didn’t really enjoy the killers “motive” as weird as that sounds. I decided to watch the movie and liked the motive from the movie better, it made more sense from the beginning. The book is way better than the movie though. Overall the book is great.

The exhilaration

I love Bahni Turpin but this book was so bad. So generic and poorly thought out.

couldn't be saved by a good narrator

This book offers nothing new. its a new age spin on an age old tale, there was a surprising death or two though. Overall it was an easy listen and very enjoyable. I also thought the narrator was fantastic.

Well worn territory done right

As a high school librarian, I was listening to this book hoping to approve it for our school. While the book didn't meet the guidelines of our school district due to sexual content, I did enjoy it and thought it was highly entertaining.

Very gory

I was a bit hasty picking this one out. It wasnt bad by any means, but I definitely wasnt the intended audience. While it is a slasher, it is also very much a YA horror with more love story involved than suspense. Decent story overall, but not my cup of tea 🤷‍♂️

Wrong audience

Great story with characters that feel real. I grew up in a small Midwestern town and hated it just as much as these kids do. The story feels a little close to a horror movie at points but you likely won’t see what’s coming next. Great read!

I made up reasons to keep listening to this book!
