About this listen

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Hot on the heels of the New York Times bestsellers The Twin and The Lake, another pulse-pounding read from the undisputed queen of YA thrillers!

They said goodbye to their friends and family for the weekend. They weren’t counting on forever.

Jagged Island: a private amusement park for the very rich—or the very influential. Liam, James, Will, Ava, Harper, and Paisley—social media influencers with millions of followers—have been invited for an exclusive weekend before the park opens. They’ll make posts and videos for their channels and report every second of their VIP treatment.

When the teens arrive, they're stunned: the resort is even better than they’d imagined. Their hotel rooms are unreal, the park’s themed rides are incredible, and the island is hauntingly beautiful. They’re given a jam-packed itinerary for the weekend.

But soon they'll discover that something's missing from their schedule: getting off the island alive.

Critic reviews

A Publishers Weekly bestseller!

"Few authors who aren’t named Karen McManus can do YA thrillers as well as Natasha Preston."--PASTE

"Keeps the tensions high right up to the very last word."--SLJ

"Preston utilizes the uniqueness of the human-made island setting to great effect, providing an impish playfulness to the steadily escalating stakes and body count."--PW

The story was good but the ending was the WORST!
Definitely left it on a cliff hanger with no second book, that is awful!

🌶: 🚫

Group of influencers get invited to a new billionaire island of an attraction, which is hoped to be opened up once these influencers load up their content.

But PLOT TWIST their are on a killed spree of kill or be killed 🫣

Moments of one influencer trying to figure out who, what, & why these killings are happening.

All just to figure it out on the last day!

Definitely had me on my heels at all the moments of this book!

The ending was left up to the imagination. Not my favorite way to end a book

Could have been written better.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this book. It was still good if want something easy to follow and understand. But way to simple, simple words simple layout just all around a fast simple book.

It was okay.

I would've given this book a much better rating but honestly the ending ruined it. There were lots of twists and turns. Believable characters. Decent plot. The majority of the time I was kept guessing on what was going on, who was going to die next and ultimately who the killer(s) were. But that final sentence literally ruined the entire book. After checking and seeing that the author does not have a sequel planned, I would not recommend this book. Don't waste your time.

The ending ruined this book in my opinon

My favorite book I've ever read. I truly enjoyed the storyline. The book just got more interesting as you continued to read it. An amazing book.

I wanted so bad to enjoy this book, especially after listening to The Lake. I just couldn't get past the vocal fry in the readers voice. I understand for some it's a normal part of speech. for others an affectation. But to listen to that fry for any entier book was like listening to a 17 year old Starbucks batista who doesn't care to be there.

Vocal Fry was too much

Not gonna lie, it started off a bit slow. Then it took a turn and I didn't know who to trust. Trying to guess who the killer was, I thought I had it all figured out but... you gotta read it to find out.

Was Not Expecting That
