About this listen

From the writer of The Pope Lick Massacre and The Rest Stop comes a new cryptid tale ...

All Kurt Reedy needed for his lakeside development project to go through was the land owned by Chuck Miller. The only problem was Miller refused to sell his family’s legacy. In the past, Reedy may have resorted to violence to get his way, but he was a legit businessman now.

Running out of time, he is forced to think outside the box. In his haste, he doesn’t do the proper research, and now there’s something in the water.

Something territorial.

Something hungry.

He may get the results he was looking for, but at what cost? If only he had learned about the dobhar chu, because once this particular box is open, there’s no turning back.

Of course I've read the book (both versions and prefer this one), but listening to it offers a whole new level of fear and dread to this atmospheric story. I love how Butler has consitently used Micah Cottingham to voice several of his stories.... It's wonderful not only watching a writer find his writing style and voice throughout the past few years, but also Cottingham. Each time I listen to her voice new words, I've really admired her growth

Like the forefathers of horror that came before, Butler is carving a path through the indie horror scene with grace and style. Equal parts mystery and mayhem, this book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, engaged and thirsting for what came next. The narration is top notch and deserves all the kudos. Easily 10/10.

Eric Butler is the master of gory cryptid books. This one was engaging from start to finish, well written, and gory, with a high body count and some dastardly characters. I loved it. No one was safe, it moves fast, and keeps you guessing. The narrator knocked it out of the park as well. Would definitely recommend!!

A bloody, gripping cryptid tale!
