Publisher's summary

Allie is running scared. Not from monsters in the closet, or creepy things under the bed; she's scared of commitment.

On the run from a would-be fiancé, she finds a temp job as a barmaid in a small Texas town out in the middle of nowhere. True love is not on the agenda until she meets her big, burly boss, hot-as-hell Thorn Canton, who lights her fires in all the right places.

Bear shifter Thorn Canton is a successful tavern owner with no plans whatsoever of getting hitched. In fact, to Thorn, a mate might mean a fate worse than death; literally.

This series is centered around the Southwestern town of Burden, Texas. For good ol' bears Hawthorne, Wyatt, Hutch, Sterling, and Sam, livin' is easy, beer flows freely, and pretty women are abundant. The last thing the shifters of Burden are thinking about is finding a mate or settling down. But, fate has its own plan.

Could be better

Interesting plot. Characters with obvious flaws as well as strengths. It had all the makings of a great story except for the fact that the main characters didn't spend much time together. It's as if everything else was more important than the couple actually being together to bound as a couple.

good story line

The book had a good story line, however I feel it could have been taken in more direction or expanded on. The 6 min chapters makes you think if a credit is worth it. the narration was good and flowed with the story. A more broad approach with the story would have been better.

Thorn

Allie was running from her boyfriend, a known cheater, when she ends up on the side of the road outside of a small community in Texas. She starts working at a local bar for money to keep moving on. Until she met her new boss, Thorn. She feels chemistry with him that she never had with her past men. Not only that she feels like she is finally home. But what she doesn't know is that she is smack dab in the middle of bear shifters and he is her mate. Their courtship is what the rest of the story is about. The story is very steamy and funny at the same time, Listening to the narration kept me listening till the very end.

Short and could use more of a story

It was okay, but it could've had more of a story line and more real emotions. It was kind of dull and boring.

Short and sweet

Utterly loved it. I was a lovely diversion and The writing style suited me because there was no wasted drivel on inane subject matter. Great job and I will be happy to continue reading this author’s books. Nice little romance.

Not so great

Like a good many of the books out there today this books main theme was very shallow with a whole lots of sex thrown in to cover up the lack of a true story. The narrator was not good and this book did not leave me with need to read more from this author. I would advise this author to try for a great story and cut a lot of the sex buzz words out. As a reader I have an imagination, I don’t need to be spoon fed all the intimate stuff throughout the entire book.
