Publisher's summary

Four years ago, Lara Spellmeyer left her small-town life in Perry, Oklahoma, to pursue her dream of starting a cat sweater business. After being swept up in online fame and success, Lara is suddenly back home, dealing with her grandmother's poor health and potentially career-ending negative press.

The only bright spots are Tight Knit, the knitting circle she starts with her friends, and Kerry, the charming young woman her best friend sets her up with.

When Chief Editor Paige Daley asks Lara to appear in her local paper's Hometown Heroes series, it just might restore Lara's image to its former glory. But working with Paige on the story is a battle between Lara's loyalty to her community and a reminder of the suffocating small-town mentality she grew up with.

It doesn't help that Paige is her ex, completely maddening, and can't see eye to eye with Lara on anything. How could this possibly end well?

Contains mature themes.

Meh

Listen, I don't think I've read a book with a more self centered, entitled, unlikable MC. She was consistently rude. Then, she'd gaslight the people she was rude to! The overall story was good, though I feel like a lot of details were omitted. I really liked Paige though. Wish we got her side of it all.

Enjoyable

Well let’s begin with saying this was a sweet story. The narrator was excellent. Her cadence and timing was right on. Very easy to listen to.

Second Chance

Lara returned to her hometown of Perry, OK, to care for her grandmother. Returning was not a dream come true as her ex is the editor of the local newspaper. Paige Daily is a work alcoholic and wants another chance. A sweet story of knitting and cats.

Listened to all of it

But it was not really a great book, parts of it were boring, parts of it made no sense... don’t waste your time... and money.

Not a favorite

The main thing that stood out for me is that I did not like the protagonist for much of the book. She was an angry unforgiving soul who loved playing the victim card. A person I could not get behind. She eventually came around, but my dislike for her still permeated my thoughts. I almost stopped listening to it, but perceivered and did get the happy ending I needed.
