About this listen

Nora Gallagher can begrudgingly admit that she and Gray Ferris are both stellar Philadelphia real estate agents, but that's the beginning and the end of the similarities between them.

Nora's life has been in a self-imposed holding pattern for half a decade. Depending on people in her personal life only leads to disappointment, and she has no plans of making that mistake again.

Gray Ferris is extroversion personified. Bubbly. Conversational. Vibrant. She's trying to make the best of life, even if it hasn't always gone her way.

When the two women begin to learn that maybe they're not as different as they think, they may finally figure out the most important thing they have in common when it comes to finding a life worth living.

Contains mature themes.

Two Nuts Crack

Among Lesbian rom com books Monica McCallan stands out for digging into deeper layers of life’s common woes. It is a successful gimmick to have the two women, Nora and Gray, the top two producers for a new real estate company., be forced to meet at an all expenses paid trip to Bermuda. The Hurricane experience is unexpected and moving. The Two women On the surface are very different—light-hearted, smiley, extroverted Gray and the ice lady, Nora. It is striking and true that similar stories of parental neglect and dysfunctional relationships are responsible for both manifestations. The common issue for both is , Can she let the other in, really in, or will she maintain a distance to be safe and keep her pride in tact. We all face this issue with varying degrees of success. This is a good look at one relationship that almost didn’t work out. AS usual, Lori Prince as narrator does an excellent job of bringing these two women to life.

Great Story

Definitely not my favorite of hers but I love character growth. I enjoy watching characters grow and learn how to be better individuals for themselves not just their partners. Take a listen

A little confusing, but still a good story

Thank goodness they went to Bermuda together. I liked both characters and as in real life, there is always someone jealous in the office who creates problems. This agency may really turn out to be one of the best in the city because of the team mentality.

Such a cute Sapphic Romance

A life worth living by Monica McCallan was such a cute slow-burn work place sapphic romance.

Nora and Grey are two real estate agents working in the same agency who couldn’t be more different. They are told that they are going on a trip together to Bermuda, much to Nora’s irritation. She worked hard to win this trip and she doesn’t understand why she has to go with bubbly Ms. Popular from the office. She keeps to herself and that’s just how she likes it. If she doesn’t let people in, she can’t get hurt. She has grumpy black cat energy but she’s a secret cinnamon roll. Also, her ex can kick rocks.

Grey on other hand is a sunshine golden retriever who seems to be perfect, but she is far from it. Coming from a difficult life with a less than ideal sibling relationship, work history and don’t even get me started on her parents. She just wants to be loved

I thought this was going to give stranded on vacation vibes but that was just the catalyst for this journey. This book is very character driven and I loved that aspect! We get to watch Nora and Grey enter each other’s lives in the most unexpected way and stay in each other’s orbit despite what they both think “should happen''. Also, sticky notes… super friggin cute.

While I’m not a fan of the miscommunication troupe I was so invested in Grey as a woman, it breezed past pretty quickly. I also relate a lot to Grey’s story and woah did it hit me in my heart strings. Mean girls in adulthood though… yeahhh we could do without them.

I did giggle uncontrollably when they finally got together at 69%. Bravo Monica

The audiobook is narrated by Lori Prince and she did such a great job with these characters, especially Nora’s more sultry voice. So enjoyable!

Life is more than just surviving!

Oh all the feels in this book! At one point with the angst I didn’t know if I wanted to hugs the MCs or grab one to just get her to listen! The character growth of Nora was amazing. She melted in the best of ways and gradually gained her inner strength and confidence in herself. Gray was the extrovert who was genuinely kind and hard working. She also had so much fear of abandonment that she pushed people away so they didn’t leave her. She had to learn how much she really had and how wonderful she really was and together maybe they could find a life worth living…highly recommend!

Wonderful romance, one of mccallan’s best

Listening to Lori Prince narrate this one only made me love it even more than when I initially read it. I think this is one of my favorites by Monica McCallan! Really loved and rooted for both MCs, the pacing was great; the conflict felt real, and the side characters felt fleshed out enough to give everything more depth. Highly rec!
