Publisher's summary

She needs to move on. He wants to let her go. Will they finally be able to go their separate ways even though their hearts seem to have other plans?

Elizabeth Ashburn is madly, deeply, irrefutably in love with her best friend. They know each other better than their own minds. There is only one problem: To him, she is Little Lizzie, and nothing she does seems to replace the idea in his mind. No matter. It is her first Season and she is determined to make a match with a gentleman - any gentleman - who will help her steal her heart back from Oliver Turner and his sea-blue eyes.

Oliver Turner can remember the exact day that Lizzie grew up. And now, he cannot see her as anything besides the beautiful woman stealing his breath - no matter how much he needs to. He won't marry her. He can't. He loves her too much for that. Now, he simply needs to help marry her off so that she will officially be out of his reach.

Satisfying Tale

This story was a nice follow up to To Con a Gentleman, and just as satisfying an ending. Took a winding way to get to the ending, and had to listen at 1.1x speed, but that’s my opinion/preference. I could imagine the story in my mind as the book progressed, which to me is a mark of a good storyteller. Lovely read that made me want to take longer car rides to hear more of it.

Cute but a bit slow and not as good as ‘To Con’

I was excited when I finished To Con a Gentleman (such a great book!) and saw there was a second book. This was not as good. The story was very slow, felt like it could have been done in half to time. But I loved the first book so much, I will give this author one more chance.

Adorable slow burn

Very cute and predictable! Glad I got to learn more about the Dalton family! Well worth it.

Very satisfying

Loved the characters. Loved the story. Have listened to the last chapter at least 4 times and still get weepy.

Clean but toasty

How does one write a clean romance that sizzles? I don’t know, ask Sarah Adams. This was a lovely story that didn’t go past kissing but felt very romantic. I enjoyed reuniting with the Dalton family and I’m left wanting more.

No real plot or obstacles to romance, just angst

This is a solidly written book with very appealing characters, but sadly the storyline is lacking. He and she are made for each other, they both know it, everybody knows it. We just have to wait the full length of a novel for one of them to overcome angst and self loathing. It’s a shame, this pair deserved a rollicking adventure instead! Honestly it would have been more in character for her to have staged her own kidnapping or such to get him to declare himself. Instead we just get chapters full of agonizing over why they can’t admit their feelings.

Would have enjoyed an epilogue

I enjoyed the story very much but felt It needed more at the end. An epilogue would have been great. I felt that things were left out like:
How the family felt about the situation
Possible future children
How credit was given to the younger sister
What was done about the land and its residents
However I never felt bored with the story. I felt the author pleasingly funny and cunning in her writing. I only wish that she would have extended it futher, adding an epilogue.
I would still recommend this book. It's a nice clean romance novel.

Character development

Little long winded but adorable listen. Loved how Kate stepped up in the end. Surprising.

Friends to Lovers Romance

Although this is a very sweet story, it is also exasperating. Two people who have been close since they were children realize their love for one another but won't admit it to the other. Elizabeth and Oliver certainly are a good match, but until the last chapter, they are too stubborn by far. Elizabeth is young, and she tries very hard to fall for another man who has fallen for her. Honesty with Oliver, her best friend, after all, would have prevented some heartbreak. The collateral damage just bothers me.
Rachael Beresford narrates beautifully.
