About this listen

Colby Blaine has been a loner his whole life. And he isn't about to change now. But that doesn't mean he can ignore people in trouble. When he rides up to an inexperienced wagon train under attack, he doesn't hesitate to jump into the fray.

Naomi Kessling is certainly grateful to Colby for saving her family and agreeing to lead their train to safer territory. But the man has an infuriating way of knowing just how to get under her skin - he asks too many questions about a past she doesn't want to remember, and his touch makes her long for far more. Yet the more time they spend together, the more Naomi sees that perhaps it's Colby who needs rescuing the most....

Boring!

What would have made To Have and to Hold better?

Better narrator, the narrator used too sarcastic of a voice for the female character. I found it impossible to like her when about half way through the story tine need you to like her and want her with the main male character.

What was most disappointing about Leigh Greenwood’s story?

Long and boring. Nothing notable happened. The story lacked meat. I was very disappointed. I will probably avoid this author in the future. I did not finish this one. It just dragged so bad.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Way too much sarcasm for the main female chacacture. So much so I could not stand her after 8 chapters of it. In reality no man would find her personality attractive no matter how petty unless her was not very bright.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from To Have and to Hold?

All?

Any additional comments?

Very disapointed. I am angry I paid for this.

Do not waste your time

This was a story that a 15 year old could have written. The only things that resembled what it may have been like for these people traveling west sometime after the end of the war between the States were words like Indians, covered wagons, and that's about it. It was a very unbelievable story. To make things even worse, the narrator. She made the characters all sound angry - all the time. Most of the books I have listened to in the frontier genre have been historically accurate, which always makes a book more enjoyable. This author seemed as if she just pulled this out of a very immature imagination. I stopped listening so many times, but when I pay Audible for a book, I just keep hoping... I truly can not believe an editor ever said "Yes, publish this..."
