About this listen

After five unsuccessful Seasons on the marriage mart, Miss Adelaide Duveen has resigned herself to the notion that she's destined to remain a spinster forever—a rather dismal prospect, but one that will allow her to concentrate on her darling cats and books. However, when she inadvertently stumbles upon Mr. Gideon Abbott engaged in a clandestine activity during a dinner party, Adelaide finds herself thrust into a world of intrigue that resembles the plots in the spy novels she devours.

Former intelligence agent Gideon Abbott feels responsible for Adelaide after society threatens to banish her because of the distraction she caused to save his case. Hoping to return the favor, he turns to a good friend—and one of high society's leaders—to take Adelaide in hand and turn her fashionable.

When danger surrounds them and Adelaide finds herself a target of the criminals in Gideon's case, the spark of love between them threatens to be quenched for good—along with their lives.

Beautiful, wholesome, romantic, adventure

I have loved all of Jen Turano‘s books. This one has a perfect blend of adventure and romance done in a very tasteful way. The narrators voice over is excellent, and I loved all of the different voices for each character. Bravo!

Well written and great listen as always

Love this author, her other series are a little more intriguing and the characters a little bit more complex. I still very much enjoyed the story.

It was a nice story

It was nice to have a easy story with a detective part in it. I like a mystery but not violent so I enjoyed this, but it really did ramble on.

Best book yet!

This was a delightfully original and witty tale. I laughed out loud numerous times at the predicaments Adelaide found herself in. I found Gideon’s life and apartment an intriguing journey of discovery.

As a huge fan of Jen Turano's work, it is quite an accomplishment on her part to continue to write stories that I enjoy a little more than the last.

A must read!

So much fun!

A great addition to this series. I wish book one characters had some type of interaction, but since it was not the same narrator it’s probably for the best. I really enjoyed the story. Never a dull moment that’s for sure. Was a bit disappointed that there was hardly any mention of God, prayer,or anything related to faith. Hopefully the author has not stopped adding faith to her work. Looking forward to the next in the series.
