The #1 New York Times Bestselling Author
A Stephanie Plum Novel

Janet Evanovich's novels are the hottest bestsellers in America!
# 1 New York Times
# 1 Wall Street Journal
#1 Los Angeles Times
#1 Entertainment Weekly
#1 Publishers Weekly

Stephanie Plum's got rent to pay, people shooting at her, and psychos wanting her dead every day of the week (much to the dismay of her mother, her family, the men in her life, the guy who slices meat at the deli . . . oh, the list goes on). An ordinary person would cave under the pressure.

But hey, she's from Jersey.

Stephanie Plum may not be the best bounty hunter in beautiful downtown Trenton, but she's pretty darn good at turning bad situations her way . . . and she always gets her man. In To the Nines, her cousin Vinnie (who's also her boss) has posted bail on Samuel Singh, an illegal immigrant. When the elusive Mr. Singh goes missing, Stephanie is on the case. But what she uncovers is far more sinister than anyone imagines and leads to a group of killers who give new meaning to the word hunter.

In a race against time that takes her from the Jersey Turnpike to the Vegas Strip, Stephanie Plum is on the chase of her life. The unforgettable characters, nonstop action, high-stakes suspense, and sheer entertainment of To the Nines define Janet Evanovich as unique among today's writers.

Critic reviews

“Narrator King somehow makes the crazy, comic antics of Evanovich's irresistible bond agent, Stephanie Plum, seem almost rational in this fine audio adaptation...With plenty of prior experience narrating Evanovich titles, King has no trouble highlighting the eccentricities of the author's invariably quirky cast of characters...King's chameleon voice and ease with accents make this a lively listening experience.” —Publishers Weekly

“Narrator Lorelei King does a fabulous job, as each character is assigned a distinctive voice, thus milking the humor for every drop.” —The Boston Globe

“Stellar voice performer Lorelei King gives a captivating spin to the characters in Janet Evanovich's ninth Stephanie Plum novel.” —Denton Record Chronicle

Hilarious!

Lorelei King does a priceless performance on this one. Her ability to take on the character's voices really brings them all to life. I hope they make a movie out of this! If you've never listened to a book on tape, let this one be the one.

Fun Book - Entertaining and lighthearted

While not deep, nor particularly suspenseful(at least re: the mystery), this book does grab your attention and keeps you waiting to see what will befall the New Jersey bombshell protagonist. The very idea of a good looking female bounty hunter fearlessly tracking down a serial killer with her overweight former "ho" sidekick sums up the hilarity of this entertaining listen.

The reader (who I think is from Married with Children and Futurama) also does a good job of imparting attitude and absurdity to the characters.

What's with the weird pronunciations?

Would you listen to To the Nines again? Why?

Probably not. I like this series, but it's for entertainment without much thought provoking depth. That's not what it's meant to be so, once you've read it you don't need to again.

What didn’t you like about Lorelei King’s performance?

She pronounces many words oddly. When she said Nissan she pronounced "Niss" like "miss" and the "an" like "and" without the "d." She reads a hard accent on both syllables of "condom" so, it's read like 'con 'dahm. The thing that is most annoying is how she reads the word room, like in bedroom and bathroom. It's almost like she's saying "rum," as in the alcoholic beverage.

Another Stephanie Plum Winner

We love Stephanie, Lula, Joe, Ranger and Grandma, and love to hear the newest exploits. We live way out in the sticks and spend a lot of time driving. Stephanie and her friend are good company, and entertaining, and no body brings them to life like Lorelei King.

Just keeps getting better and better

I can’t believe the difference in the Plum series with Lorelei King and Ms. Critt. King has the individuals sounding like the characters they’re meant to be, especially grandma Mazur. In the first six books, granny sounded masculine with a two pack a day habit. I guess i’m easily distracted but once i realized how out of context the characters were, I lost the actions of the book. After book 3, I listened to King’s first book vowing to drop the series if the same problems persisted. Obviously they didn’t! Long live the King!

Nine adventures and counting. . .

This is my first experience with audio books and what a treat! Stephanie's adventures are as intriguing and funny to hear as they are to read. Add her colorful co-workers and a trip to Las Vegas, and be prepared to stay glued to your audio player. This time Stephanie is living with Joe, but still manages to get mixed up with criminals. Ranger is ever-present saving Stephanie from certain doom either in person or with one of his merry men. Lula is trying to become a supermodel-by-protein dieting, and attracts all kinds of animals - mostly the 4-legged kind. Connie gets involved in the chase this time by accompanying Lula and Stephanie to Las Vegas, catching the gambling bug with some interesting consequences. And there's a new addition to the family, but I won't spoil that surprise. In all "To the Nines" provides entertaining listening that goes as quickly as if you were reading the book.

The Best Since

This was absolutely the funniest book I have ever listened to. I am sitting at work and everyone in the other cubes hear this giggling coming from mine. I couldn't help myself. Lula is one of the best characters ever in a book. When the dogs were chasing her to the office, I thought I would fall out of my chair laughing. Lula is my favorite, but it is all good. The funny parts are the funniest and the dramatic parts are right on, too. I love the way Stephanie started going through Ranger's men like his cars. The girl has bad karma to get into the fixes she does. And as Steph would say, "it's not my fault".
