Publisher's summary

When a team of assassins murder a high-ranking North Korean general and his family in their sleep, making it look like a robbery, events are set in motion that could shake the balance of world powers. Meanwhile a US naval combat ship, the USS Milwaukee, is attacked by North Korean forces in the middle of a training exercise off the shore of South Korea, and Commander Kate Bigelow is forced to ground the ship to avoid being captured.

The crew takes refuge on a tiny island, trapped dangerously between the grounded ship and a fleet of hostile North Korean soldiers. Op-Center intelligence discovers a secret alliance behind the attack - a pact between China and North Korea that guarantees China total control of a vast oil reserve found beneath the Yellow Sea. As both sides marshal their forces for a major confrontation at sea, Chase Williams and his Op-Center organization devise a plan to spirit the American crew secretly from the island and out from under North Korean control. But the North Koreans are not finished.

In a desperate gamble, they unleash a terrorist cell on the American homeland. Only Op-Center can uncover their plan and stop it in time to prevent a major catastrophe that could lead to all-out war.

Clancy is one of my favorite authors.

I've read/listened to most, if not all, of Clancy's books and each one has exceeded my expectations. His stories gets your attention from the very first page and maintains it through to the very last. I'm always looking forward to his next book and usually listen to it as soon as it is published. I recommend this book to anyone interested in fiction that is not outside the possibility of actually happening.

Did not disappoint!

Carried the torch forward with the story line! I'm an avid fan was not disappointed with the book, was not real impressed with Henry leyvas narration. No great definition between the different parts making parts of the book hard to follow.

One of Many Op-Centers

While not up to Tom Clancy's own work, the story is good with not excessive "obvious plot". However, the narration was horrible! The routine narration was decent, but the narrator's attempt to alter voices for various characters reminded me of voices for various Saturday morning cartoon characters with the optimistic "gee-Whiz' voice inflection.

Not up to Clancy's standard...

While this book was somewhat entertaining, it lacked substance and depth in the storyline. Everything was summed up to quickly and with little imagination. I'm saddened to think that nobody can capture the suspense and intrigue that Clancy was known for.

Really hard to listen due to. The story was good but didn't flow as well between the different scenes as well as past tom Clancy books

Excellent

Tight, taut story telling. For persons who enjoy international espionage ,terrorist fighting and detail, these gentleman who have picked up the Clancy name, and his mantle, are doing great work. Well worth your time.

good book

I enjoyed it very much. the plot moved along at a brisk pace, and the author portrayed the military atmosphere very well. the reader portrayed different characters with ease, even the females.
