About this listen

Jasmine's a tough, savvy woman who's worked hard to get where she is. Used to being used by men and women, looking to get ahead, she doesn't trust easily when it comes to relationships.

Shane's her cousin's best friend from Australia who's been working in Cherry Springs while he gets his Masters. Now that school's out, he's going to have to leave the country.

She's always kept him at arm's length, afraid to ignite the passion that sparks whenever he's near.

He does everything in his power to remind her of what she's missing.

A marriage of convenience will give them both something they want, but when the ruse gets a little too real, will they both come out unscathed?

Too Dangerous is the fifth and final book in the Lewis Cousins series by Bethany Lopez.

This is the first book I've listened to by Bethany Lopez. I really enjoyed the storyline and characters. It was a good standalone, but I'm certain it'd have been better if I had followed the series.

Amy Soakes has not been my favorite narrator. She had a great 40's, 50's, 60's starlet voice or more cartoonish voice. I didn't care for her male voices. After I sped up the playback, it was much better. Her voice just didn't fit with this type of book.

Enjoyed the book

If you’ve read the previous books in the series, you know that Jazzy is a spitfire...and that there’s serious chemistry between her and Shane. Jazzy is finally ready to purchase a home and start settling down but the chosen house requires its purchaser to be married! Shane’s work visa is about to expire and he needs help in remaining in the USA. Jazzy proposes to Shane that they get married to solve their problems, he reluctantly agrees. Can they pull off the charade and fool the Lewis family? Will Jazzy admit that she loves Shane before it’s too late?
Great wrap to the series...sad to see the end.

Another really good addition to this series with a friends to lovers vibe. I really enjoyed the writing of the book, but wasn’t in love with the narration. I felt like the speech was through her nose and that sound bugs me a bit, but the emotions and reading was done well so I’m a bit on the fence with it. Still it is definitely worth a listen/read.

Audio review:

The audio for Too Dangerous by Bethany Lopez was charming, a bit angsty and had me wondering how it would all end kind of read! Jasmine Lewis guards her heart fiercely because in the past, she has been used for who she is and who she knows. But guarding it from Shane, a friend of her and her cousins, is getting harder and harder. When they find themselves wanting something they both truly want, but can’t seem to have, will a marriage of convenience solve all their problems or just complicate things more?

I absolutely loved Shane. He was charming, honest, caring and loyal. He wore his heart on his sleeve, especially when it came to Jasmine. Jasmine, because of past hurts, could not get out of her own head and see what was in front of her. Could they find their happily-after-ever together before it was too late?

Narrated by Amy Soakes, Too Dangerous was a quick listen that was sweet, charming and emotional. Though this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone and I am very excited to go back and listen to the entire series!

Happy listening!

Charming and sweet story with all the best feels!

The story and characters were great, I loved them! The narrator I just couldn't stand. I hope she doesn't do any of the other books. Sorry for the review but the voice was just terrible. "I was given this audiobook in exchange for an honest review."

Loved the whole series even with the predictable storylines.

This narrator was terrible - that whiny voice almost made me return it without finishing. Her performance of Dillon was especially annoying. I listened to it at 1.25x and can’t imagine how grating it would be at regular speed.

Good story, terrible narrator

Shane and Jasmine read like a beautiful tragedy. She yearns for someone to trust, but doesn't know how to listen to her heart. He wants to be both her protector and her salvation, but doesn't know how to break through the walls she's built around her heart. Lopez continues to take on human vulnerabilities with a keen eye and an empowering outcome. Too Dangerous is an open book that speaks for itself. Although, I loved the journey, Lopez and Soakes took my emotions on quite the ride.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, Shane an Jazzy were electric from the beginning. I haven't read any of the other books in the series so I don't completely know their past but they had a chemistry that was undeniable.

A marriage of convenience.. dangerous? Maybe. Worth it? Hopefully.

Shane is so hot from the beginning and I just love all the Australian lingo he used throughout the book. It was sexy. Jazzy was very headstrong and hardheaded. I liked the fact that she was independent and had her own money, she wasn't a damsel in distress at all.

This was a good story and I am excited to go and start from the beginning of the series and read the rest of the books to see how the other couples all came to be about.

Now for the 1 star on the performance... so first off I didn't like the fact that Jazzy is suppose to be from America and the narrator had an English accent, that really threw me off. The other issue I had was the fact that her voice was almost whiny. I caught myself being annoyed by the high pitch tone and not paying attention to the story line because the narrators voice was really throwing a kink in it for me. The voices she tried to do for the characters was not very good, at some parts she was doing a male character with a higher pitch than normal. Also she used quite a few English pronunciation of words rather than an American pronunciation which just kept making me go back to the same question of "why does she have an accent if she's American?"

Jasmine is back in her hometown working for the family business and surrounded by her family. She is ready to set down roots but only when it comes to a house and not necessarily when it comes to a man.

Shane is a bartender who Jasmine believes has a way with woman but the only woman he wants is her. What was supposed to be a marriage of convenience to suite both their purposes has started to feel real on Shane’s part but will Jasmine feel the same?

These two are perfect for each other. Shane knew from the beginning that they were meant to be and although Jasmine didn’t realize until it was almost too late she redeemed herself in the end. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought the narrator did a good job with Jasmine’s voice but would have liked some different tones for the other characters.

Jasmine and Shane!

All the women in this series rub me the wrong way but this one most of all. Strong is one thing stupid is another. And while I hate to disparage anybody's work the narrator on this was awful.

Nope!
