About this listen

Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin, her husband, the djinn David, and the Earth herself have been poisoned by a substance that destroys the magic that keeps the world alive. The poison is destabilizing the entire balance of power, bestowing magic upon those who have never had it, and removing it from those who need it. It's just a matter of time before the delicate balance of nature explodes into chaos-and doom.

Most series’ I’ve read tend to just finish the story off in a “eh...now it’s over” but Rachel Caine wrapped everything up in a great way!

Wraps it up!

Everywhere Joann goes there are weather problems. She is funny resourceful and always horny for David. I enjoy see her get into trouble through her altruistic endowers. I am waiting for David to tell her that if you let me kill him in book one he would not be a problem now! But??? I don???t think that would matter, since dead does not necessary mean dead. Fast cars, weather hair, great shoes, and lots of attitude makes this series a fun read.

Keep it up Girl!!!

I like this series well enough but this one just didn't do it for me. I think It should have ended a couple of books back.

This one wasn't as good

I find Rachel Caine's story telling compelling, even though her heroes are so far-fetched there is no way to identify with them or their problems. She's a super weather warden who also controls fire now and has some earth energy. The only other person like her is Lewis, the most powerful of the wardens. Of course the world is in destructive mode and only she can save it. And Mother Earth is on the war path too!! Tooo much. Still I listened to or read every book. Liked Maria Snyder and Kim Harrison books better. I am also loving the Dresden series.

Glad this one is over

repeat tagline! this series has been one wild ride after another. the characters well thought out as well as the story line and plots. they all tie in together from book 1 to book 9. Rachel Caine did well on this series.

intense but a great ending to a great series

Another episode where Joanne/David lost powers/strength and were on the run/defense until the end. Another episode where the antagonist was a silent, omnipotent force … and was, again, Mother Earth. Another episode where we knew Joanne and David would prevail and regain their powers.

In the face of the formula blah, I hoped I could at least count on supporting characters like Ra-hel, Kevin, and Lewis to add some emotional oomph … but their ends were far blander than they should have been. This should have merely been a final chapter or two for the previous book.

A finale of reruns with zero oomph- what a letdown

Narration was great, but the story is painfully boring. It has the feel of a cheesy 90's made-for-tv sci-fi channel drama that happens to mention 'djinn' every once in a while. Too feminine, too many feels. No action and no sci-fi.

All Drama, No Sci-fi
