Publisher's summary

He's never wanted anyone... until her.

After being condemned to the fighting Pits as a child, Kace was forced to do horrifying things to survive. Now, as an adult with a curse that intensifies his rage, he keeps himself away from anything that can break his carefully constructed control. So when he meets Eva, the only woman who has ever ignited such raw, violent passion, he has no choice but to stay away.

Eva didn't think much when her vampire ex-boyfriend showed up asking for her back. Except she wasn't interested, and the man she had once loved wasn't taking no for an answer. Defended by a tall, moody and definitely dangerous man her ex left, and she thought that was the end of it…

Until she wakes up dead.

Thrown into an unfamiliar world, Eva only has one hope to free herself from her new master, and it just happens to be the same man she’s been warned to stay away from.

Captivating!

This is the second book in the Curse of the Guardians Series, a dark paranormal romance. Kace and Eva's story is fast-paced, passionate, entertaining, and captivating. The world building is enthralling. This story is darker than the first book in the series. Lilly Drake and DB West did a good job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Whisper of Fate, the next book in the series. #PFPAudio

Character embodiment!

I was worried that this audiobook wouldn’t live up to my high standards of Kace and Eva, considering this is my favorite book of the series. But LET ME TELL YOU it was perfect. I don’t say that lightly. DB West did an amazing job as Kace. Several goosebump moments, thinking about getting “Eyes on me” permanently! He gave off enough internal conflict with his voice that really gave me true Kace vibes. Lilly Drake also did a beautiful job of voicing Eva. I thought from the first audiobook that she would really shine through with Eva and she did not disappoint. So glad I have the audiobook; I will be listening to it again when in a book rut. Thank you Taylor for this book, even after reading other books I seem to come back to this one! I cannot wait to get to experience the next book with a new voice for Axel!

disappointed

I thought I would like this book and I really tried to, but couldn't. I loved the characters but I felt like the story dragged in the beginning then was rushed. I wanted to step outside my normal dark romance but it wasn't it with this book

Touch of Blood

This is the second book in the Curse of the Guardians series. This book is told from Kace and Eva's POV. I really enjoyed this book. Kace has been forced to fight his entire life. Eva gets sold, and Kace will do anything to save her. Will his curse hinder his chances of rescuing her? Lilly Drake and DB West did a great job narrating this book.

Eva and Kace!!

This story takes place after the first, with Eva and her special relationship with Kace. Plus Eva's unsavory ex and an angsty teenage shifter.
It explores Kace's background and does an excellent job giving him the reason for his dark personality and I loved how Eva brought light to his darkness. They were a great foil to one another. Eva gets a lot thrown at her in a short amount of time and she does her best to stay strong, despite circumstances beyond her control.
It's a good story with fantastic chemistry between Eva and Kace (and literally everyone trying to pull them apart because Kace is just a smidge crazy and a lot violent). I've enjoyed the background and world that the author has created and I'm glad she's still writing books in it!
In the first half of the book, there aren't too many scenes with the two leads, but the latter half has plenty of steaminess and banter. Plus Lucy makes an appearance or two and I am here for it!

The narrators are great! They both did a great job with voicing all the characters. I liked that the same narrators continued with the series, as they both helped out with the first book in the series.

This story contains lots of violence (some gore), steam, abduction, abuse, and implied SA (nothing on page).

I recommend reading the story in order. They are all unique books with their own stories, but understanding everything is better if read in order.

Note: this series is set in the same world as the Alice Skye series, while not necessary to read that series first, I'd recommend it because it is a wonderful series and introduces most of the characters in this series.

Intresting

The narrators did a good job telling the story.

3.5* storyline

It's a bit of a slow romance. I felt bad for the FMC as she was taken and disappeared and no one noticed or bothered looking for her some time. It was a good story that got more interesting towards the end.

Curse of Guardians, Book 2

Kace and Eva are my favorite couple of this series. I adored Eva in the first book, especially after she threatened Kace with a frying pan. I love her feisty spirit. Kace is the misunderstood "broken" Guardian that everyone fears will go off the deep end and hurt someone, but Eva has no fear of him. This story line was very unique as a good part of the book had these two main characters separate and dealing with their own hellish situations. Eva was recently turned against her will into a vampire by her abusive ex while Kace was searching for a child that was in danger. Most stories have the main characters thrown into a situation where they are forced together and have to deal with their feelings. This couple goes through their own versions of hell to find their way to each other. I definitely recommend reading in order. The side characters like Lucy (AKA Lucifer) are very entertaining. The narrators did a great job. Look forward to continuing the series.

I requested and received a free audio copy via the publisher, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam #PinkFlamingoProductions

Very Good

I really liked this one. The only problem I am having is that I don't remember much of book one for some reason. My mind is drawing a blank. It is a good thing that these books can be read as a standalone. Or I would have been completely lost. It was almost 6 months ago, in my defense. But I usually have a better memory than this.
But book two was good. I don't love how soft spoken both narrators are. I listen on speakers while I am doing things around the house. This book definitely works better, for me, with headphones. I feel like book 2 will stick out more in my mind than the last one. It pulled me in and kept my attention more than the first. I can't wait to see what book 3 will bring.
