About this listen

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly 100 hostages are taken.

Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative, is sent in to take control of the crisis and determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

Critic reviews

"Endless intrigue... Flynn mixes in a spicy broth of brutal terrorists, heroic commandos, and enough secret-agent hijinks to keep the confrontation bubbling until its flag-raising end." ( Publishers Weekly)
" Transfer of Power emerges in its sense of authenticity, depth of research, and almost seamless dramatic scenario....One of Flynn's finest skills as an up-and-coming young master of the genre of political thrillers is his ability to create a cast of compelling characters." ( Bookpage)

Great Story, Terrible Narration

The story is one of the best Rapp novels ever...and I've listened to and read nearly all of them. The narration is awful. Besides some of the complaints that the narrator just doesn't do the voices well, I can be forgiving of that, the issue I have is that Sullivan is so out of touch with the story line that he doesn't even pronounce the words correctly. Example: Anna Really?...How about Anna Reilly (Rye-Lie) or how about that famous .50 cal sniper rifle the Barett (Sullivan: Bar-Ette - like you wear in your hair), instead of the Barett (Bear-Ett). Little things like that drove me crazy all through the book...luckly the story was so good, I kept listening.

My favorite Vince Flynn

I have read or listened to a few Vince Flynn CIA thrillers. This is my favorite. This Mitch Rapp story of a terrorist hostage crisis in the White House had me engaged from start to end. While formulaic, it is really a fun ride. The narrator was excellent!

good story, defective narration

the narrator mispronounced Reilly's name the entire time as "really." has he never heard of Irish? if she was a minor character it would be forgivable, but she is a major character.

Another Great Mitch Rapp Novel

I stumbled across Mr Flynn's series by accident but have never regretted buying that first book. I became an instant fan of Mr. Flynn's and looked forward to each book. It is a shame that he was taken from us at such an early age. Vince Flynn never disappoints in his stories and each book is as good or better than the last one.

Enjoyable, Quick Listen

Great action, the events seem plausible, sure hope our protection services and government are paying attention and closing the "holes"
Very happy there was an epilog, needed to be resolved.!!

All the books should be re-read by N. Sullivan

Performance readers can pull off male or female with accents from Russian, southern US, English, middle Eastern and so much more,. 190 books ago I thought all books wear red light and by George Guidall. however, when someone sounds 80 oh, it does not make for a realistic 30 year old Mitch Rapp. Those that argue that argue that GIG should read all Mitch Rapp novels must not have experienced a True Performance from a prolific performance reader. while I see so many people arguing that GG should read all the books I sit here frustrated that I can't purchase any of the new books because GG does not change his voice when he is reading from a female perspective nor does he change his voice between Mitch Rapp quite possibly his Nemesis in front of him. It's all one Big Blob. what these readers do nowadays, their skills make you feel like you are right there with them.

Good story...I think?

This book is pretty good and probably would have been more enjoyable if Nick Sullivan wouldnt have made every character sound like a ridiculous buffoon. Unfortunately the next book in this series is read by this dope.

Superb story but the narrator is a misfit.

I found the Mitch Rapp series while waiting for the next Gray Man novel to come out on audio. The first one was interesting enough to keep me going to the second one, and that one hooked me. So I was looking forward to Transfer of Power.

The narrator is SO important in books like these. The narrator of the first two was perfect. Nick Sullivan, the narrator here, is articulate and speaks clearly, but his voice is more suited to a Disney nature documentary. "Rocky may not have been the oldest racoon in the forest, but he wasn't about to let some ole owl steal his food!" His voice and style just isn't suited to the gravitas of the narration.

Still, I'm encouraged to see that he only narrates the next one, and eventually they go back to Guidall, so I'd encourage you to take the leap into this series (make sure you start with the first book in the series and work your way through in order.) Flynn is getting better with this series with each book and, even for an old grizzled listener like myself, I find myself sitting in my parking lot when I get to work, not wanting to pause the book to go into my office!

A knock out story

Vince Flynn is a great story teller and Mitch Rapp is my hero. Love this series and love Vince Flynn. An action packed story.

Great Story ... HORRIBLE NARRATOR

Would you listen to Transfer of Power again? Why?

Narrator Nick Sullivan single handidly destroys all possible enjoyment of listening to this great book with his nasal monotone voice. Listening to nick is utterly unbearable. All Vince Flynn books narrated by George Guidall are awesome, as George is the best. i had to return the audiobook and listen to the abridged version narrated by Daniel Oreskes, whom i've never heard before.

Would you be willing to try another one of Nick Sullivan’s performances?

Never again!
