Publisher's summary

"Always surprises and always entertains." (Jonathan Maberry, V-Wars)

With the mysterious and charismatic Rev. Cameron Ingram rising as a world leader in the wake of a zombie outbreak, a group of outcast survivors vows to bring him down.

Ingram has formed an oppressive new government and demands loyalty from all refugees who seek protection. Those who refuse to wear his mark are considered enemies and left to fend for themselves. Ingram uses the military to expand his influence while he gathers a corrupt inner circle at Promiseland, the megachurch complex that offers sanctuary in a ruined city. After proclaiming himself a messenger of God, Ingram drops all pretense and embraces his role as the Antichrist.

Dr. Meg Perriman and her allies plan to infiltrate Promiseland and expose him, but first they must traverse a hostile wasteland and evade Ingram’s deadly army. And they soon discover it’s not so easy to kill a king, especially one who's no longer human.

Scott Nicholson is author of more than 30 thrillers, including the After and Next post-apocalyptic thriller series, Stoker Award finalist The Red Church, and The Home. His books have been translated into 10 languages and have sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide. He lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

Good Story!

I enjoyed this series. Although there was alot of unanswered questions and loose ends. I felt rushed. I was disappointed with how some of these characters died. No reason, useless death. And unrealistic objective to take out the anti-christ. A handful of well meaning, poorly equipped and trained survivors against the full might of the US military. Overall this was a great read, but lost focus toward the end. Maggie should have continued her search for scientific solution and finding other scientists. And the group needed to find allies (plenty of military deserters) to form a resistance group. Humanity's lost hope. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Hooked me all the way through 3 books.

This installment is just as fun as books 1 & 2—we’re full-on post zombie apocalypse now, and survivors are either brainwashed (or pretending to be) under Ingram … in the military and blowing up seemingly everything … or our small (smaller by the minute) group.

While it’s fun and heart-wrenching at times, it still manages to pack wit and humor as well. It’s well done in many ways—though there’s still no real science to support the plot, ultimately.

Overall: very entertaining and hit me right in the feels … more than once. Worthy of 4 stars, I think.

Audio;
This audio is … okay. Often, the narrator sounds robotic, so not optimal but tolerable.

Note:
I was disappointed to learn that this author doesn’t know the difference between s*x and gender.
