About this listen

Attorney Hunter MacRae and Private Investigator Zoe Buchanan uncover lies and secrets for the clients of their law firm. He's a shape-shifter who can morph from man to cat and back on a whim. She's a psychic who is reluctant to explore her full abilities. Somehow, they make business and friendship work.

When Hunter's father and family patriarch is found murdered, a long-kept dark secret is revealed, and their easy lives change forever. Hunter must abandon his carefree lifestyle to lead a battle with a rival monstrous enemy.

Among the wealthy and powerful on both sides of New York's Hudson River, Hunter and Zoe face their own true natures in a fight for survival. The question is will they survive the Chimera bent on destroying the next leader of the MacRae family - Hunter?

I liked this story. It had lots of good points but a few lows for me as well. One of the lows is it was sort of scattered. There are lots of characters and lots of views and it hops from one thing to the next. It might be on Zoe’s view and story for a long while then totally skip to Hunter’s and the new developments in his like or his past. After reading the author Bio’s I see now why this maybe since it is a collaboration of two authors. The story started a bit slow but did grow on me. I loved Hunter and especially his story. That alone would have made a good book.
I listened to this in audio and wasn’t fond of the narration. I think if a male had done it, perhaps it would have been more powerful. However, I do think the choice for Zoe’s voice was good… I just felt the story should have been more in Hunter’s view than Zoe.
If you like shifters, big cats, Paranormal stories, urban fantasy, private investigators and attorneys this is for you…. HOWEVER, there is no real romance.

Interesting concept
