About this listen

Renick, the fifth son of a dragon breeder, crashes into an unexpected adventure that challenges everything he thought he knew about dragons, history, and himself. Stranded in the massive Helath forest, Renick meets two other passengers: Thane, a noble training to be a dragon knight, and Lainey, the orphaned niece of a healer. Together, they survive an attack by vicious wolves, rescue a baby dragon with a broken wing, and escape from a band of dragon hunters as they make a perilous climb into the mountains.

What they discover there will change everything.

Awesome Family Fantasy

This book is great for the whole family!! It is essentially a book about dragons and humans, but there is much more to it than just that. There are morals to be learned, full of action, suspenseful at times and very touching at other times! It is not a long book, but it packs a lot into it. There is never a dull moment!! I gave the story only 4 stars, because the ending is already leading you into the next book and I'm not a huge fan of that. It did end this chapter of the story though.

Fred did another awesome job narrating this book!! His voices are great for this type of story and he has so many different voices that it is easy to figure out who is talking. I really loved his voice in the beginning, very deep dragon voice!!

Awesome

Renick, Lainey, and Thane find themselves scrambling to prove worthy to live after rescuing a baby dragon and delivering it back to its family. Just teens themselves and far from home they never expected to be in this predicament, but here they are mining for nothing in the dragon mines awaiting their sentence. But when a cave in occurs and they stay behind instead of escaping like the others, will that help their case or just prove to the dragons more of their stupidity.
This was a really good action packed, very suspenseful, dragon/human book. I was touching at times and infuriating at others, but so good you don’t want it to end and when it does you cannot wait for the next book to see what happens. If you like dragons you will like this book, it is not like all the others but is a really different wonderful change that is well worth the time and will have people looking for the next book, and if you are lucky enough to have gotten the audio version narrated by the awesome Fred Wolinsky than you are in for a treat as he must have a million voices, as he has a different voice for every character in the book, he is such a talented voice actor he transports you to Helath Forrest so you are right there with our friends and all of those dragons, it is so worth it if you can get the audio. I for one will be waiting for the next one to come out on audio.

captivating story

the readers voice was very dry and not very emotional in the beginning of the story. later in the story he seemed to get into the actual reading of the book and it became more enjoyable.

Nice Dragon Story

Nice story, not sure of the reader, the reader seemed to portray the characters as immature. Will read the book to see if it makes a difference. While predictable, very nice characters. Looking forward to the next books in the series.

Excellent story

This was an excellent story. I particularly liked that the dragons personalities were much more a part of the story rather than just treated as more like action figures. The narrator took a bit of getting used to, as many do, but became quite enjoyable as I got into the story. I wish the rest of the book in this series were on audible as listening to literature really brings the stories to life for me and is also helpful when driving or working around the house and I can’t sit down to read.

Terrible narrator, ruined the whole story for me.

I don't think I can quite put my feelings into words about this book. I love dragon stories, I love how magical they can be, and how open-ended the options for it can be.
But this book sadly does not meet any of my expectations nor does it cause me any joy.

I couldn't get into the story because the narration was so bad, the guy sounded like he was a Windows or Mac narration program. There are no words for how much I disliked this guy's narration... Nothing personal, I'm sure he's a perfectly nice guy but damn. He put me to sleep and had almost no cadence for his voice... It was pretty much monotone the whole 5 chapters I listened to.

I can't even comment on the story since I didn't get terribly far in, but perhaps this is a children's book and I didn't know it. It was simple to listen to, the dialog wasn't terribly elaborate, and the characters seemed very one dimensional.

Just, please, Krista, change narrators. Please!
