About this listen

Gina Hall is done with men who won't commit. Ten years waiting for her ex to propose wasted her time. Never again. When her friend Kristen starts a game of Truth or Dare, she dares Gina to go on a date with Ethan, who's amazing and total marriage material. As Gina plans the going away party for office playboy Chris Bradley, she spontaneously initiates a game of Truth or Dare with him. When his turn comes around, he dares Gina to pose as his girlfriend to help get a flirty colleague off his back. Gina finds playing couple with Chris way too much fun. Even though Gina and Chris are pretending, their relationship begins to feel painfully real. Fearing she might be falling for another fly-by man, Gina must focus on Ethan so she doesn't make the same dating mistakes all over again.

What Should I do?

The above question rings throughout this delightful story of a bridesmaid of her good friend from work who is planning her wedding. Deep new friendships form, changes in the lives of some of the key characters, and then finally....you will have to read the book to see some major last second choices made! As I became deeply involved with the characters, I will say that I wasn't disappointed in their final choices. Susan Hatlelr did a great job developing the story with believable characters. I plan to look for more of her books. Happy reading/listening!

Truth or Dare has never been so fun

Gina finds Truth or Dare causing unexpected romance and mishaps in this clean romantic comedy by new to me author, Susan Hatler. The narrator for this book is good with only a couple of slips where I couldn't tell the voice transition from Gina to Ellen. Otherwise a fun story with all of the things I want in a story without all the stuff I don't.

Never say "Never!"

I have the print as well as this audio version of the book and I really enjoyed listening to the story as it really portrayed the emotions and personalities of the characters and brought it to life. The story is very well written, very true to life in my opinion. I found myself saying over and over, come on... give him a chance!! And the game of Truth or Date was fun to see which she'd choose and the outcome. I laughed, cried and smiled all the way through the book!! Can't wait to read the rest of this series!

A Make You Smile Ending

Enjoyed the charaters and the pace of this book. A solid B rating, for the smile. I wanted to read more of this new relationship, an epilog would be nice.

Another clean and fun romance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This novella from Susan Hatler is a fun and fluffy romance. The characters are well written and the secondary characters add so much to the the overall plot of the story.

What did you like best about this story?

The four girls game of Truth or Dare was so much fun to see how each one re-acted to the game. Would they choose Truth or Dare and what would be the consequences.

What about Martha Lee’s performance did you like?

She did a fine job of reading the story and her pronunciation and enunciation of the words was very well done.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

At the end of the story when Gina realized her own fears and then had to face Chris and be truthful.

Like a Doris Day Movie

Look up "Romantic Comedy" in the dictionary and you will find "Susan Hatler." In this second iteration of her "Better Date than Never" series I was so focused on heroine Gina that I nearly overlooked the fact that the obsessive bride is Ellen from Book 1. What this means is the novel stands on its own extremely well and its own story arc nestles neatly within the larger world in which it is set.

Narrator Martha Lee [AUDIO] again lends her talents to this delightful exploration of the mating dance, handling male and female vocalizations equally adeptly. Doris Day with Rock Hudson and Cary Grant?

another fantastic story

What did you love best about Truth or Date?

The thing I loved best, but there were many, was the first few paragraphs when Gina, the heroine, when she was trying on a bridesmaid dress and because she had overeaten because of a bad breakup, she needed a size 10 dress and she thought "good, just think of all the cookies I can eat".

What other book might you compare Truth or Date to and why?

I would compare it to any book in Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series, because both are well-written, funny and entertaining to the reader and listener.

Have you listened to any of Martha Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and her tone of voice and cadence is well done.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

from the series Better Date Than Never, comes another humorous look at a group of friends who love the old game Truth or Dare.
