About this listen

Duty brought them together. Love made them stay.

After tragedy strikes, Fitzwilliam Darcy becomes the caretaker of not just one, but two orphaned children of Charles and Jane Bingley, along with their determined and devoted aunt, Miss Elizabeth Bennet.

Elizabeth is resolved to protect the babies at any cost—even if it means joining forces with Mr. Darcy, the most disagreeable man of her acquaintance. When Bingley’s relatives aggressively claim the twins and their inheritance, Darcy and Elizabeth must protect their future and navigate the challenging dynamics of duty and loyalty as they are tested in ways they never anticipated.

This heartwarming Regency variation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice traces the unexpected journey of our dear couple as they overcome fierce obstacles together, building a loving family bond that lasts forever.

Twins!

I read this book when it came out about a month ago and the audio just came out. It is wonderfully narrated by Stevie Zimmerman and she has always makes the book even better.

Grief…… What can help deal with it? Love! Love a family overflows in this story. For those looking for a story where Elizabeth and Darcy get together early, this fits that bill. This story deviates from Canon during Jane’s time in London that starts about a year afterward. I enjoyed seeing the changes in Darcy, Elizabeth, and her parents because of this love for the twins. This is overall low angst and the conflict is outside of Darcy and Elizabeth‘s relationship. There is one surprising character and how they made a major impact. This is a story that I will read And listen to again.

Hard to find the words…

This book! It touches my heart in so many ways. Stevie Zimmerman is one of the narrators in this genre with such an extraordinary talent for bringing characters to life. Her character voices have become so recognizable that they’re often the ones I ‘hear’ in my mind—especially Mr. Darcy.

And J. Dawn King! Her books just keep getting better and better. Oh, my heart! From the very first line, I was gripped by this moving and masterfully crafted story. It's the kind of book that tugs at every heartstringᅳbringing tears one moment and smiles the next.

The story begins with a desperate cry for help after a heart-wrenching tragedy. But out of that sorrow grows something truly beautiful. Elizabeth and Darcy, along with Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, step into the lives of the precious twins of lost loved ones, forming bonds that are as tender as they are life-changing. Watching these charactersᅳalready so dear to usᅳwork through their grief while pouring love into these little ones is deeply moving and beautifully heartfelt.

And while the emotional weight is profound, Ms King provides moments of banter and humour that lighten the story in all the right places. Just when all hope seems lost, an unexpected heroine comes forward to save the day, ensuring a happy ending.

The writing is brilliantᅳsharp, heartfelt, and full of emotion. Variations don't get much better than this, and I can confidently say it's one of the finest I've ever read. If I could give it ten stars, I would. This is a book that will stay with you long after the last page—a book hangover for sure. And a definite favourite for 2024.

It’s really difficult finding words for perfection. I most highly, highly recommend it!
