About this listen

As an ex-cop and PI, Robert Hoskins thought he'd seen it all. Then, while working a simple case, his world changed. The next thing he knew, he was battling wizards, demons, and even the occasional dragon.

Now, with government agents closing in on him in the human world and the ancient dwarves threatening the Fae lands, he's got to prepare himself for his most daunting task of all: telling his adult children they are the descendants of Greek gods!

But there's more going on than even Robert can imagine, when a visit to Fae uncovers hidden secrets that could change everything. To Robert, family comes first, but this time his adventures are a little too close to home.

the fact that he hid such crucial info from his kids...Since FROM THE BEGINNING is such a glaring ot hole that it bothers me. even he says he was an idiot and the reasoning is hardly there for it. im only 1/5th through this book but was thinking it since the first case the kids worked on. Its just stupid like asking for trouble. especially with sooo many enemies amd not hiding who you are for the most part. its literally reckless at that point. i dont find that to be very good story telling

was enjoying the books mostly Until..

I really don't understand why Keller doesn't spend the time to write more depth and richness into his story line. The premise of this series of a well established retired cop now detective living a normal human life only to find out he is not only a Fae but High Fae provided a rich opportunity for a great series. Instead, Keller's stories feel like outlines or abridged stories. There are opportunities for tension and suspense but they are squandered with quick resolutions written in sentences rather than paragraphs or chapters. Due to the lack of depth, briefest of descriptions, and lack of full character development, even though told from 3 different first person perspectives, I really don't care about Roberts daughter or son - they are simply there, pawns in the story line but not people I care about as the story unfolds and moves. The book really does feel like an outline and not a complete story. Very disappointing - I was so hoping for a good urban fantasy series with characters that i cared about, a series where I just couldn't wait for the next book to be published. Sadly after listening to the third in this series, the quality of the story telling has actually declined, the story has become skimpier and my interest in the characters lost. Regarding Audio quality since book 2 was horrible - the quality of the narration and recording is similar to book 1.

I like how the story runs, though I have to admit it has become a bit convoluted. That tends to be the sad side effect of these sort of books. We escalate quickly and in a direction that changes the whole nature of what originally I thought was going to be the premise of the books.
In that vein, what do these stories have to do with Las Vegas? After all, it’s even in the title?! As much time as these stories take place in Vegas the town for all this activity could have been Caribou, Maine. Or even Limestone, Maine. There’s a happening burg.
