About this listen

Another young, African-American man is shot and killed by local law enforcement. As rioters take to the streets in outrage, a group that has waited for this very moment moves and takes control, effectively shutting down an entire city. The demand is simple: "Give us what we have been promised for over a century...EQUALITY."

Torn from the headlines of our own nation, this novel offers a "what-if" scenario that might be difficult to dismiss as pure fiction. Best-selling horror author TW Brown peels back a new layer of storytelling that will put you in the middle of what could bring down the foundation of the United States if something is not done to bridge the gap in race relations.

REALLY makes you think!

This book comes at you from all sides. It is pretty rough at times but it really shows us where the world is today. I would have liked it to have an ending per say, but what way is society going to to chose? Black, White, Hispanic, majority, minority...this is happening all over the world, why couldn't it happen in Seattle? It's a sad situation we can see our world walking towards. Very good book.

Great book. just right for the times

This was a very good book. There was a variety of characters that played well off of each other. The book rocketed forward from the beginning and never stopped.
I enjoyed the different types of characters and the situations they were put in that made them uncomfortable. It did not always go as you thought it should.

good story

it was a very good story for the times. However unless there is a sequel, the ending was somewhat questionalble.....

Unique, Edgy, and Thought Provoking Book!

UnCivil War: A Modern Day Race War in the United States by TW Brown is an Audiobook that will have no real middle ground for listeners. People will either love or hate this book. People inclined to like it will try it because of the interesting description that is given. Once into meat and potatoes of the book, some people will be challenged by the language and subject matter. The events start off around another officer-involved shooting where the officer is cleared of any wrongdoing in the killing of a young black male shot while in the commission of a crime. This starts a chain of events in Seattle, WA during the first term of the Obama administration before the midterm elections. I really enjoyed this book. The author just went there and held nothing back. I really hope there is a sequel for the follow-up events of this great audiobook.

The narration was provided by John Solo. This is the first time that I have heard a performance from him but he does a truly great job with this huge cast. I was really impressed with his performance.

Thoughts

I really enjoyed the book. I believe it's a book that should be read in Washington, D.C. from the President on down. Again I thought it was a great book. Hope there's a part two.

Could it, would it, can it if so when?

This is first a super audible and the narrator superb and if you are like me in your mind the author makes you think and look at the world around you. If you listen to this audiobook keep the 4 questions I ask could it, would it, can it and finally if so when.
This author takes you on a very dark trip for us to see the hatred, bigotry and inequality here in America. In the audible there is a president who will do whatever it takes to keep himself in power and you see so much in the president we have now, also the hatred we see on tv toward all races no matter what color.
Personally I hope I never see the day this could happen to our country but it has happen all over the world and my final question what not here in the US?

Interesting Story

Interesting story and eerily predictive considering what's going on in the world today (June 2020). The book needs a sequel to see the story line all the way through. maybe there is one, but I haven't seen it....

Engaging

Listening to this audiobook felt like I was watching a movie. The narrator did a great job of making a distinct voice for each character. Because of this, it was easy for me to imagine the scenes playing out.

it was hard to keep track of who's pov it was as well as i felt the story had no real ending. what happened to the hostages in the station? did they go up in flames with the building? how about the reporter and camera girl? what happened to them?

Dumb

it makes it seem like pretty much all white people are racist. It makes it seem like while it may be a bad thing, black people are still justified in killing white people.
