About this listen

This is not a love story. Unconditional is a story about love. When Chris and his father Phil decide to spend a long weekend break in Bilbao, their relationship is stretched to the limit. All because of a woman. Chris learns the hard way how actions have consequences. Phil also learns that it takes unexpected blows to put love to the test.

"Believe me son, I do love you," Phil said to Chris once, "that’s why you still breathe."

Killing your offspring - as justified as it may sometimes seem - is simply not an option.

A Father’s Love for his Son = Unconditional Love

“Unconditional” is a story about love. More specifically, it’s about a father’s love for his son.

This charming take focuses on Chris, an angry teenager with a big heart, and his father, Phil. Chris’ journey as a young man takes place in Bilbao, Spain, where he discovers romance, heartbreak, and how much his “old geezer” truly loves him.

“Unconditional” reminds us that, no matter what, our parents will always be there for us. Whether we discover our first love or our first heartbreak, they are there to pick up the pieces and put them back together. They are there for us when we rise and when we fall.

A father’s love for his son is just simply UNCONDITIONAL!

Made me cry! Great story!

I love the concept of this story! We all have those people in our lives that we would do anything for, and Ant’s book encapsulates those relationships. Definitely sharing this with the world!

Brilliantly Done

Written by Ant Richards and narrated by Ant Richards, along with the talented voices of Laura Piñero and Carmen Olarte. Because he knows the story and the general vibe, it's always a treat to see how the author conveys the story in his own voice. In this story, we follow the life of a teenaged Chris, holidaying in Spain with his father. It's a sort of coming of age, rites of passage, and the unconditional love between father and son, or rather, the realisation of what it means to have that sort of love and connection. Brilliantly read, with an easy background ambient noise that only lends to the overall feel of the story. Mr. Richards has an incredible reading voice, perfect for narrations. I look forward to hearing more stories read by him.

Another Win for Richards!

I absolutely love Ant Richards' writing. This one was more sentimental than the last, but definitely packs the emotional punch without being cheesy or too sad. I really found the characters to be relatable and I cared about them. Stories like these are always brought to life better with the music and with just a couple of voices to bring the vivid images to light. I really feel like I'm listening to a fully produced audio drama with these ones. I will continue to listen to Ant's productions as long as he works!

A Wry & Heartwarming Coming of Age Tale

I think this little shorty is Ant Richard's best work yet! It's a wryly narrated coming of age tale through the eyes of Chris, a seventeen year old boy on the cusp of manhood, on holiday with his dad in Bilbao, Spain. I found it honest, accurate, and highly amusing! Chris, like most teenagers, is full of cheek & moodiness, and his [mis]adventures stumbling through his first solo night with some girls in Bilbao is full of blunder and learning experiences. By the end young Chris actually learns a thing or two about how to behave as a human being--and the twist even made me cry a little! Well done all around. ::standing ovation::

The actors did an excellent job bringing this tale to life! Richards, the author himself, has a voice made for narration, and Piñero and Olarte did such a great job as well!
