About this listen

The world is facing the greatest healthcare crisis it has ever seen. Chronic disease is shortening our lifespan, destroying our quality of life, bankrupting governments, and threatening the health of future generations. Sadly, conventional medicine, with its focus on managing symptoms, has failed to address this challenge. The result is burned-out physicians, a sicker population, and a broken healthcare system.

In Unconventional Medicine, Chris Kresser presents a plan to reverse this dangerous trend. He shows how the combination of functional medicine, an ancestral diet and lifestyle, and a collaborative practice model can create a system that better serves the needs of both patients and practitioners.

The epidemic of chronic disease can be stopped if patients and practitioners can adapt.

Everyone NEEDS to READ This book!

This is a great book for understanding how health care should work.
Give this to someone who is in the medical field who might be frustrated with how the world of medicine is currently being worked.

Truly an eye opener!!

I was Diagnosed with Rieters Syndrome in 1998.
That means I've been ingesting medication since then. My physician, described this Syndrome, to me, "as if I had Cancer. It will be treated and hopefully go into remission. But like Cancer, can and will come back. I will have this disease until the day I die."
And since 1998, doctor's have treated me with possibly ,10's, maybe 20's of different medications. Nothing has worked. But after reading this, I now have hope!!
Thank You Chris Kresser!
I believe this is my light, and the end of this god forsaken illness.

great information

the information in this book is incredibly timely and important. as the reader Chris is tonality is excellent sorry I'm writing this while voice typing overall I think the only thing that could be improved is more stories that help us to understand how functional medicine came to be and maybe how fun functional medicine ended up dominating our current Healthcare System

Inspiring and Informational

Great information, but you need to keep in mind the book seems to be geared primarily towards healthcare professionals. I've already started sharing as much of his information as I can and will continue to do so. I truly hope his vision for what a healthcare system COULD look like comes to fruition.

The performance could have been better.

if the performer would have just talked it through instead of reading it it would have been better

Loved it.

While it took some adjustment to get used to Chris narration tone, the content of the book was so rich and informative that you quickly forget about it. Chris offers great insight and truly breaks down the differences between functional medicine, integrative medicine, and functional medicine. I recommend this book to any healthcare provider/worker/patient. We have to be aware that there are more options to how we approach healthcare, with functional medicine being a valid scientific and more effective approach for chronic conditions compared to the current conventional medicine. At the very least, this book should have you take an honest audit on your own approach to healthcare and ignite or fuel your desire for something greater.

Great useful book.!

This was a great book because it is getting down to more of what is really going on with our health. The problem may be it’s really not that difficult but completely different, a paradigm shift. Who knew real food could be so beneficial. Every situation and person may be dealing with different problems so “this book is your answer” isn’t correct, but at the same time it just as easily could be. If you’re wanting to get healthy or dealing with a health problem, this could be of help. Practitioners and doctors I believe he said are the main audiences for this book, but since you’re a human it could help you. Personally, if it could help you to live a healthier life, that’s good.!

Great book, narrator makes me want to fall asleep

This is a great book, but could not have chosen a worse narrator. His voice is unenthusiastic and monotone, and makes me want to fall asleep, let alone get excited about the book content! Recommend doing a re-recording with someone a little more clinical and upbeat.
