About this listen

Betsy Devonshire has settled into her new home in Excelsior, Minnesota, as owner of the town’s needlecraft shop. So why is she suffering from terrifying nightmares? She hasn’t a clue—but thinks maybe it would help to get away for a while. With her friend Jill in tow, she heads north for a “stitch-in” at a remote, rustic lodge. But her nightmares only get worse—especially after she finds a dead woman no one else had seen. Then the body disappears—and she knows she won’t get any rest until she untangles the mysterious threads of the crime....

Series need some humor.

I didn’t guess who was guilty. I thought it was someone else. Surprise to me. I enjoy the friendship between Jill and Betsy. The series could also use a bit of humor sprinkled throughout the story. Murder stories get a bit heavy without a bit of humor to soften it.

Stitch In convention

Location change was delightful. Loved details re: scenery. Charaters varied and complex. Excellent descriptions of stitchery.

Thoroughly enjoyable story

You may not believe the ending plot. I didn't!

The mystery of the story was very involved.

The narration was excellent.

Pretty good mystery

Monica Ferris has crafted a pretty good mystery, as well as likable characters. I find myself wondering what trouble Betsy can drag Jill into next. Susan Boyce, as always gives a beautiful performance in bringing the characters to life.

Guessing until the End

Having read this series when it first came out, I decided to listen to the audio version on my work commute. Apparently I had forgotten to read this one because the story was new and the mystery, like the sleepy Betsy, kept eluding my brain. I love the twists and turns. the voice actress was consistent with only one vocal slip on a very minor character. An excellent choice!

Really??!!

I keep listening to these, as they are entertaining, but don’t expect any of this to be realistic. The idea that Betsy would get away with her investigations with any actual law enforcement agency strains credulity, and her cavalier attitude toward evidence is laughable. But I do keep listening. 😜

This author continues to write the best mysteries.

A great whodunit. And who doesn't love Godwin! Betsy Devonshire is one of my favorite sleuths.

Monica has the perfect ingredients

Where does Unraveled Sleeve rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I rate this in my top 10 of "just to relax & enjoy". Although it is not what I would personally call a "gripping" book, again it is a VERY great story that is told in a very clean & calm atmosphere with an easy to listen to narration. I listened to it twice in the first 3 weeks of purchase, and will return to listen yet again without a doubt, as with the other titles in this series.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

This house is filled with movies & books - finding one that actually keeps us on the "edge" are very rare. I will say it was a very smooth written and not easily figured out by the end of each chapter.

Have you listened to any of Susan Boyce’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am very pleased with her work to date.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"Allergic to Falling Flakes" * due to the weather, the waterfall that is involved, what she was knitting at the time*

Any additional comments?

I am off to read the next in the series ! I need to soon begin searching for another series of books that will keep me going through the many nights of 3 am knitting as I try to fight the routines of chronic pain.

Dot

This one was a good mystery I had one person picked as the murder and it was the kids that had done it.

What's with the incorrect pronunciation?

In the past month I've listen to several of the needlework stories. I'm surprised the narrator, who is a professional never learned the correct pronunciation of so many Minnesota towns and legendary names. She mispronounces Wayzata, Brule, Medina, Ole, Edina....and more. She doesn't get better as the series goes on. I hope the story never takes place in Grand Rapids and she needs say the name of the Main Street "pokegama".
